My cell phone
« on: May 23, 2007, 02:44:17 PM »

My cell phone is an LG VX9800.  It flips open and has a full keyboard, which I love.  I've had some form of full keyboard phone for about two years now and I'd hate to be without one since I text a lot.  My phone plays mp3 files, which I can store on its 256 MB miniSD card.  It takes shitty 1.3 megapixel pictures.  My ringtone is redbox tones.

My biggest complaint about it is that it won't let me use its bluetooth to give my laptop or PDA an internet connection.  But it's built-in internet is good enough to check my email accounts and get basic info that I might need.  I can access Yahoo instant messenger, AIM and MSN messenger.  The one thing I don't do a lot of is talk on my phone.  I'm using their minimum minutes plan but I rarely use even half of what they give me.

What kind of phone do you have?

What service provider do you have?

You will have to enable DUN(Dial-Up-Networking).

It's Verizon Wireless.  They purposely disable bluetooth internet.  I read up on a way to work around it but I've never bothered yet.

My phone is a Samsung D807. I like it, although my screen broke last week, forcing me to draw up complex graphical representations along with direction/number of clicks to access various functions of this phone.

First phone was a Nokia 5110, then a Samsung X480 (I've gone three two of these), then a Motorola RAZR, then my current D807.

But do you have ample parking? That is the question.

My phone is made by the #2 most popular cell phone company in South Korea, The Pantech C300 w00t.

I know its ugly but I love it. It makes me feel like zoolander

Wow!  All of you guys (except RBCP) uses Cingular!  Great!

I have the Samsung Blackjack, it's a smartphone, however I'm not smart enough to figure any of the features out.  I just make and recive phone calls.

I have a RAZR V3, and my keypad smells like electrical burning, and I can hear GSM hum during my calls. Oh, and my battery life sucks. But other than that, I haven't paid for my Cingular service in a couple years, so who am I to be complaining.

Cingular isn't the only company that uses GSM.

I have a Motorola v710 on the TELUS network. It sucks ass, as it needs to be rebooted once a day, has a tendency not to work when the temperature is below 0 C (32 F)--it's even worse when it gets to -20 C (-8 F), and just like RBCP's phone, the bluetooth is locked down like Fort Knox. However, this phone has somehow survived a year of me dropping it on concrete, surviving phone calls in -40 C/F weather, and me tinkering with its firmware.

i870

Have you had any luck trying that workaround to use your LG as a modem?

I didn't dial the wrong number, you picked up the wrong phone.

Once a Canadian carrier has the iPhone--likely Rogers as they're the main GSM network here--I'll be dropping my contact with TELUS and switching. As much as I prefer CDMA and want analogue mobile phone coverage, the iPhone will be able to do a lot of things that I want to do when I am out of my home.
