Ask me anything about Canada!

Feel free to ask me a question no matter how absurd it may seem to be.

I think everyone should read Canadianisms:

It's a lot of reading but there's funny stuff in there.

Anyway, what's up with the BAGS of milk?  That seems rather inconvenient, compared to putting milk in something that would sit upright on its own.

Also, what color of igloo do you live in?

In a previous post, why did you use standard measurements for temp and metric for length?

While I am not sure what the idea was about them, I can safely tell you that we used to put them in pitchers after cutting the bag open. I haven't had bagged milk since I was about 4-years old.

Also, I live in an apartment, so I cannot talk about igloos.

Force of habit. I try and be nice to Americans by using standard measurement, but I slipped and used metric on the other. If you're wondering, half a metre is roughly around 1.75 ft I think.

Ironically, we still use standard measurement for our own body weight and height. However, we use metric for the measurement of food and other items.

Why is the weather cold.
With the lack of a continuous mountain range going from east to west, the arctic cold air has an easier time swooping down in the winter and creating what we have as "cold." This is the worst where I live because it's one of the flattest areas in the world, and in the winter, it can drop as cold as -40 C (same as -40 F).

Vancouver is the lone exception, as when I lived there, it never got colder than -12 C. From October to March, the average temperature is always above freezing.

I walk into the hospital or doctor's office. explain what is going on, they do whatever they need to do, and I leave. Even if the wait time is shitty, I enjoy the fact that I never have to open my wallet more than once. The only thing I show them is my provincial health card and my driver's licence.

4.65/1000--for comparison, the United States is 6.7/1000. You could have looked this up. :P

Yes. However, it is a specific breed, and you only find them in Ontario and some parts in Quebec. Maple trees are common across the country, however.

How do they train Telus Mobility reps. so well against social engineering?
Simple answer: TELUS blows.

TELUS has shown up at 2600 meetings I have attended at in the past. It was funny, because one time a guy showed up and chatted with us about things, and then two weeks later, I saw him walking into the main TELUS offices in Vancouver. They're really stringent on ensuring that none of their equipment get stolen and that their offices' dumpsters are locked.

However, if you can do it, try and get a representative in Alberta. You're highly likely to get further with them because the turnover is so high here. Alberta is facing a labour shortage, so if you end up with a call there, you'll likely get the bottom of the barrel employee in comparison to other provinces. Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia are where the main call centres are also located.
