I had to deactivate 700 phones the other day. It was a sad sight to see.

I like the quality of land line calls.  You can usually tell when someone is using a wireless.  It'll be nice when the quality of wireless surpasses the quality of landlines.

I keep a copper line to get the DSL service in my area (they do not offer naked DSL). I also have to admit that there is something to knowing that your line is more reliable.

Without the Port-o-Rotary this would not be good.

I didn't dial the wrong number, you picked up the wrong phone.

Still using a landline and dial-up here... and I'm in the middle of the city!
Thanks to my meatphone, when my prank call victims call back, I know who it is!

Like pulse dialing, land lines and DUN will always exist (as will pay phones).

The question we should ask is, "will there be a pay meatphone?"

When will they phase out pulse dialing?  Nobody in America really has a valid excuse for needing to pulse dial.

yeah they do, they charge you extra for dtmf dont they?  They figure the work your finger does to turn the dial and let go each time is worth a fee if gone.  well, at least the USED to charge you, i dont know if they do anymore..

They should actually charge people for still using pulse dialing since it takes longer to process pulse-dialied called.

There's no point to get rid of it. It's not like the computers have to work extra hard to process pcm; and it gives people whose keypads are broken a means to dial, say in emergency situations.

And I broke the dial on my rotary phone, so I have to pulse manually.

I don't think most people know how to switch-hook...

I haven't had a land line since 2002... I wistfully remember (wistfully, now) my ancient device - I could switch between tone + pulse.  I longer have a pulse... *sigh*
