Amazon script
« on: August 26, 2007, 10:39:30 AM »
Can it be put just before the closing body tags so when their server is slow it still loads the rest of the page?

Done!  Looks like I had it placed before a few table tags.

It still stops the forums from loading, but if you disable javascript the forums load swiftly

The scripts in question are from assoc-amazon.com.

We aren't the only site having problems with their scripts.

The script causing the problems is the one that displays the 5 recent books that people from here have either looked at or bought. The amazon search box is working fine, even with javascript off.

Oh, I thought you meant the Amazon script that links random words in posts to Amazon products.  That's the one I moved.

To fix it temporarily, you could click on the 'X' at the top-left of the screen to completely remove the sidebar.  I'll look at some other things right now, though.

I just took the Amazon thing down for now.  I'll figure it out later.  I don't think it was causing many Amazon sales anyway.  The search box is still there, though.  Because of the fucked-up way I made the sidebar able to disappear for those that don't want it, I can't take away the Amazon bar for the regulars. (I was going to leave it there for guests.)  I'll get that figured out once I have some more time.

I was also going to move the whole side bar over to the right side of the page instead of the left.  But there's a weird formatting issue I need to fix before I can do that.

I guess all of this is why for the last few days when I open the forums with Safari the left sidebar takes up more than half of the left side of my screen / But if works fine with FireFox / I guess I can just click the X / But its still a pain! / Not as of a pain as not having my arrow keys or the comma and period key not working / Damn arcade killed my keyboard /

Are ya gonna fix it ?

Oh and should a meatphone be kept refridgerated?
