I was emailed a copy of the What's Your Bid phone mobbing a while back (a few years ago?), so set out to find out who was behind it (years later I still piss myself laughing at it ;D) and found the PLA.  I can't get enough of the crazy pranks and social engineering, and am eternally impressed by the ingenuity displayed by the likes of RBCP.  Another bonus is that none of it is done with any real malicious intent, apart from having a laugh.

I'd forgotten about the PLA for a while, but after a rather sucessful phone mobbing down here in Australia which even got coverage on the TV, I came back here to see what was happening, and found PLA radio episodes, which I'm really enjoying getting through 8)

I hope PLA continues for as long as it's already been established.

...I used to do investigations and repossessions, and I found a good deal of useful info here on Social Engineering on the PLA site.

I found originally found the site while I was looking for info on cna's. I used to know a heroin addict who could get a cna on any number within 5 minutes. She would come to my office with her black book, kick me out and make a phone call. Five minutes and $25 later I had my info. She always had to ride the bus to get to me. I'm not sure whether she blew all her cash on drugs or got busted one too many times for DUI. Naturally, relying on a heroin addict had its down side...she was often pretty hard to reach when I needed her. That's why I set out to find out how she got her info.

I never did learn how she did it. She's probably dead now, so I'll never know...

Waitaminute... you worked as a skip-tracer and you had to pay junkies $25 bucks just for looking up somebody's name & address?

Pretty sad & stupid, eh? That was in the early days of my skip tracing and repo work. That's why I was looking for help. In the end, I learned plenty about Social Engineering, so I was able to handle most of my own cna work. (I still would love to know wtf was in that junkie's little black book.)

How I discovered the PLA? I call AT&T too see how I can save money on my long distance and they told me about the wondeful world of redboxing.

If you believe that one, I have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale.

Actually I discovered the site about 6 years ago when I found the Avenger's Front Page. They have a link to the PLA as well as RBCP's textfile about screwing over a Seven Eleven.

I was 16, it was 1996, and apparently it has impacted my life a great deal because HERE I AM 10 YEARS LATER AND I STILL CANNOT GET AWAY FROM YOU PEOPLE! :)
My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself.

You try to get out, and they PULL YOU BACK IN!!!

Dude, LTNS. What have you been up to?

Not a whole lot that's relevant to this place anymore, alas. But maybe I'll pop in more often. :)

I originally came across the PLA in a comprised form around '98 or '99... somebody at UofL had a few select issues (along with old Anarchist Cookbook + other shittier imitations) in .txt form going around.  I'm sure everybody knows someone who makes these shitty compilations, it was thrown in with a bunch of drivel... but I remember trying out #6 and it worked.  Really impressed my Austrailian penpal.

I had forgotten about it until about a year ago when I kind of rediscovered the Jerky Boys (w/ the Musacha Tapes), got into internet phone pranks and found something every bit as good.  RBCP's so clever + ruthless I was surprised a record company hadn't picked this up, even with the complex legal shit.  I'm more humor than hax but it's been great to finally read PLA in its undiluted entirety.

I discovered phonelosers many years ago.  If my memory isn't failing me, it used to be a subdomain on kracked.com before getting the phonelosers.org domain.  That was about 9 years ago.

Even then, it was a hilarious site.  After learning about that faggot Kevin at OCI and repeatedly pissing him off, I learned how to redbox and I got hooked.

Thanks RBCP

I stumbled upon the PLA from the Hacking and Phreaking category at Yahoo!, My first read was the stuff about ruining the life of a 7-11 employee.

One day I come home from a hard day at school and log on to my computer. I go to iTunes to listen to Folsom Prison Blues and I happen across a button marked podcast. I asked myself, what is this podcast thing they speak of. I click again on the podcast directory button. I decided to type in "prack calls" in the search directory. I see it, the thing that would keep me crouched on top of my chair for hours on end and give me freezing cold clicking fingers; PLA radio. I downloaded the podcast, number 1.  I listened intently, hoping to glean knowledge from young RBCP. I became addicted, it was like something I had never heard in all my life. It would be a way of getting back at people I hardly know. I was but 15.

I Google Imagesed Old People and went to http://www.oldpeoplearefunny.com then found this site on OldPeopleAreFunny's main page. Simple enough.
