Call forwarding Businesses (without them knowing)
« on: September 14, 2007, 06:25:14 PM »
So when PLA got the different businesses to have their calls forwarded, how did they make it so the phone that the calls would be forwarded to would be anonymous? Or did you even make the phone number anonymous at all?  ???

Also, is this against any laws, or anything like that?

thanks for the help

Alright, you need to change your damned avatar.  Yeah, its freaking me out, and whenever I look at your post I'm thinking "OMG I'm gonna get eaten by that ... uh... whatever it is".  Its like creepy, and not in a cool boba fett way.  Its completely distracting, dragging my attention and thoughts elsewhere.  Other wise I'd just tell you to forward the number to...OMG THAT LITTLE MAMMAL IS GOING TO EAT ME!

er where was I? what am I doing writing this post?  Hrm, I'm kinda hungry, I think I'm gonna go grab something to eat.

oh sure :)

just forward the line to a conference number that doesn't require the users to punch anything in.  If you listen closely to the pranks you're [implicitly] referencing you can hear where multiple people call into the store at once.  You can typically find those numbers around mr. conference lines, or around party lines like the donut or raven.  It would probably be a good idea to use one that is highly publicized one...

You could also forward it to a number you have pointed at an Asterisk box, if you set everything up correctly you could handle the calls in a more efficient way.  But it would be a good idea to run that on a system that wasn't yours.  You could get a free DID from places like ipkall, they don't require anything besides the IP/port of the server and an email address.

FWIW, this is all illegal.  dunno what they would charge you with, but it wouldn't be pretty.

I didn't do any of that illegal stuff.  I worked at those places and got fired from them all.

I really need to add this question to the FAQ.  And point new users to the FAQ when they sign up.

It would be alot of fun to write up a FAQ for these forums, you should make a contest out of it!

A stupid question. Did you apply at these jobs for the sole purpose of entertainment or did you work there and just decide to have some fun before you quit?   :-\ I was under the impression you had never worked at any of the businesses you terrorized, besides the infamous Seven Eleven!

RBCP is never sarcastic. RBCP will kill you in your sleep and eet ur children.

OK as a former telecom employee getting a businesses calls forwarded on an "emergency basis" is possible. However there are legal implications if you get caught. (see the 'is it worth it' forum)

Alright chump, it all depends on the phone carrier that the business is using and the restriction settings they have enabled. *72-ANDWHATEVERNUMBER works on most carriers, including verizon. Most people who will let you use a phone to reach an outside line (without beige boxing) are small businesses, which makes you scum. Larger businesses, the ones who may have it coming, generally have a pbx, and from there you have an extension that you need to enter an outside line, and then call forwarding is shady from there on, depending on the carrier.

Ideally, if you targeted such a business, you'd have a grand central account forwarding to your pre-paid cell, in which you'd answer the phone as the business and abuse the caller while recording via the "4" button. Which, is certainly illegal (well, pressing 4 notifies both people that recording will be taking place), but impersonating someone's business can at least have civil charges.

And since you're an asswipe, I must say:  You're responsible for your actions, I am not. I will take no responsibility for providing you with basic information, or what you decide to do with it. Noobs do stupid shit.

i got fired from too many jobs in the past because i would play pranks on other employees.  It's much cooler to get fired for screwing with customers.  in fact, im fired right now.  I just tell my $$ girlfriend that i am going to work, and i hang out behind the dumpsters and eat sandwiches i make at home the night before.  ::tongue3
