The Portland (Oregon) airport has a TON of payphones that all accept incoming calls and ring loudly. I got some of their numbers, mainly the ones in the baggage claim area (there is a cluster for 4 phones every 10 to 20 feet at baggage claim). I'll probably add to this list with ones from other places in the airport. If you go to the Google Doc you can export it as a CSV which can then be imported into a service like Phonevite [http://www.phonevite.com] which will then call ALL of the phones at the same time. The few TSA guys who were there ran around trying to pick them all up when I first did that (but that was like a year ago so they won't remember).

Anyway, here's the current list. I keep an updated copy at http://bit.ly/7laasI [Google Doc]

Most of those only ring once, except for those at DFW, find some that ring more than once

The ones at the bus station also ring partially.. it shows that it is ring on the screen but doesn't actually physically ring but the good thing is that the bus station is packed with people even at 2 and 3am in the morning.  So far most of the payphones I have seen around here are COCOTS that ring only a few times but I have been keeping my eyes open for phones that ring in.

bad part of town in Missouri? thought that was funny... what makes it a bad part of town?

coming from NYC, and spending lots of time working in "bad neighborhoods" like east new york, harlem, and far rockaway i would love to hear what would be considered a bad part of town in the middle of the country... is there a minority that lives there or something... L..0..L..

A lot of gang members from Kansas City and St. Louis have been coming into Columbia lately.  You know, St. Louis has been rated most dangerous city in the country as recently as 2006 (though it has fallen to #2 since), and Kansas City ain't much prettier.  Some of those lists:

http://www.morganquitno.com/cit07pop.htm
http://www.buzzle.com/articles/americas-most-dangerous-cities.html

If you really want to see what crime goes on in Columbia, this is the best place, I guess:

viewing this and being unimpressed... i decided to search for some statistics on my own..

and according to http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp?city=Columbia&state=MO columbia MO is pretty much BELOW the national average for every category of crime...

Quote
State:     Missouri (MO)
City Population:    87,470
Murder:    2
Forcible Rape:    17
Robbery:    84
Aggravated Assault:    319
Burglary:    459
Larceny or Theft:    2,632
Car Theft:    175
Arson:    20

Quote
Murder Is 0.30 times the National Average
Forcible Rape Is 0.53 times the National Average
Robbery Is 0.44 times the National Average
Aggravated Assault Is 1.01 times the National Average
All Violent Crime Is 0.81 times the National Average
Burglary Is 0.62 times the National Average
Larceny or Theft Is 1.01 times the National Average
Car Theft Is 0.33 Is times the National Average
Arson s 0.77 Is times the National Average
All Property Crime Is 0.85 times the National Average

so most of the statistics from this source shows that for many crime categories (murder, forcible rape, robery, car theft) you are TWICE AS SAFE in columiba MO then the national average!

only aggravated assault, or larceny/thieft is even AT the national average... so sounds kinda pussy to me...

Yeah, it's nothing compared to a big city, we're just a college town...but I still wouldn't go walking in certain areas here after dark.

So wait, you're telling me that in every city and town there are places where crime occurs on a regular basis, which might call into question your personal safety? Get the fuck right out of here.
