Antenna Spacing.
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:18:22 PM »
I have a diamond discone approx 10 ft above my roof and also have a yagi mounted on the same mast approx 5ft below the discone.

I use both for receive only and was wondering if the antenna's are too close.

I monitor a trunked 800mhz system from 35 mi away easily with either antenna but the yagi is slightly better even though its 5 ft lower.

I'm putting up a new tower in the spring (i cant wait) so im going to have lots of room but for now its tight.

What do you gents think?

I'll probably get corrected by imabadspellor, :D but i think that at the high frequencies the antennas should be at least a half wavelength apart.....
but since one is horizontally polarized and the other is vertically polarized....... ???
