2600 friday

Today is the first friday of the month, and most of you know what that means. If you dont, SCREW YOU LOSER!
Does anyone attend their local 2600 meetings? If so, has anything particularly interesting ever happened there?
Mine are somewhat mellow. A bunch of hacker/phreaker types wearing black,talking about linux and eating too much.

ive never been to one, im not a fan of the magazine at all anymore.  Are there still fan mail letters sent in all the time like "can you send your magazine in a brown paper bag to my house, cos im scared??! :S"

My favourite letter ever was from an "offline texas rebel" who started ranting about how he can't type so he's not much of a hax0r but he damn sure loves guns. Do they just print EVERY letter or do they deliberately pick n00bs and raving libertarians?

We tried to start one here in my city but we were the only ones there and then we tried to go to the one closest which is in St. Louis and there wasn't anyone there. So I guess I'd have to drive to Chicago which I have decided that I am not going to do so maybe I will just sit around and be lazy.

I wish there was one closer to me in Massachusetts. Boston is about an hour away. Providence isnt much closer.

2600 Madison has an "informational" update once a month, but from what I can discern (and from when I visited while I was in Madison) it's basically two guys sitting in a coffee shop talking about getting homemade pr0n off of people's shared network folders.

I mean, I like racy digital camera shots as much as the next guy, especially when it's some 20 year old shooting photos of his 16 girlfriend pleasuring him, but I already know how to find them. I don't need to drive to Madison for that.
