Today it took me 30 minutes to boot up my computer. Normally this would seem outrageously long, but for about three weeks now it has been pretty much standard. Programs are slow to open and shortcuts are sometimes completely unresponsive. To fix this I need to delete MacAfee, but in a HAL-esque move it has fucked up remove programs, and stopped any shredding attempts by running. I cannot kill it using the three finger salute even by stopping it process trees. Just tell me how to get rid of this fucking thing and I will be able to figure the rest out.

System Restore? If you have a saved point or disk restore point you may be able to go back to before you installed MacAfee.

sometimes that works but system restore doesn't really mess with files - if this were me i would just backup my files and reinstall the operating system (only takes an hour and you have a fresh new copy)

I seem to remember McAfee being a pretty good anti-virus program, at least I never had any such problems with it.

Get the "McAfee Product Removal Tool". It's worked for me.

I think it was AVG that majorly pissed me off last year. I tried to run Brutus and it deleted it immediately, for being a virus, with the classification 'hacktool'.

As I said before add and remove programs is not working. Thus negating any options given so far besides formating and system restore, which I don't think I have any save points for.

You don't need add-remove-programs to use the removal tool. I'm a little confused, you can't even stop the services or kill the process? How are you trying? And how do you know that McAfee is definitely the source of your problem?

I have a million special ignore rules at work for my usb drive. A lot of them are legitimate tools! Psexec is bloody owned by microsoft now and its still a "remote hacking tool" according to McAfee

Go into program files and delete that bitch. Then from start>run type msconfig.exe and stop it from starting. Run registry mechanic to delete the orphaned registry entries and voila.
