- HBO going "off the air" for the night!

I remember most of the channels doing that.  If I fell asleep with the TV on, I would awake sometime after midnight to the extremely loud "snow" channel.  I can't believe it took them so long to discover they could fill all that down time with infomercials.

- not having cartoon network! we only watched cartoons on Saturday mornings!

It was the only reason to get up early on Saturday!  If you slept until noon, you missed all the good cartoons for the week.

i miss the channels going off the air.  the fuzz and snow is so much less obnoxious than the infomercials.
RogueClown has been known to cause the following side effects. Smiling, <3ing, dizziness, and the desire to listen to poorly recorded phone mobs. RogueClown is an MAO inhibitor.

I miss that they played the Star Spangled Banner right before the channel went off the air, with all of the fighter jets flying around and such.

I loved everything about the 80s except:

-Rainbow Brite

-Nell Carter (she was fucking everywhere)

-New wave

-ColecoVision... My dad got one that fell off a truck. He wouldn't buy a 2600, which is what all my friends had, so I couldn't trade games with them. My graphics were better, but I was stuck with Rocky and Ladybug.

-The McDLT. That thing was a pain in the ass to eat, always fell apart.

Was she everywhere?  I only remember her on the TV show Gimmie A Break.   Which for some reason I watched as a kid.

Gimme A Break was bad enough, but I remember seeing her all over the place. Hollywood Squares, talk shows, guest appearances, etc. We get it Nell, you're sassy and you don't take any shit.

Guess I didn't watch talk shows and other stuff she was on when I was that age.  At least she's dead now though!  I actually watched a random episode of Gimmie a Break last year.  I was skimming through Hulu and saw it, so I decided to watch it.  It's one of those shows that was funny in the 80's, but not at all today.  I didn't even make it to the end of the episode.

Hollywood Squares was only good when Triumph the Insult dog was on it.

The best they could do back then was Rip Taylor or Yakov Smirnov

Michael Jordan - To this day, this man is a franchise like none other.

Reebok Pumps - these things were the shit when they first came out.

One of my neighbors had an Intellivision, which was pretty sweet, and in high school some friends and I bought a Magnavox Odyssey off eBay for the nostalgia, but we didn't have directions, overlays, or supplemental stuff, so it didn't really work.

I don't remember computers sucking this bad back then, but apparently they did...
