DTMF decoding prog
« on: August 14, 2008, 06:01:53 AM »
Anyone know of a good program to decode dtmf tones into numbers... (where u just play the tones via speaker or soundcard and it gives u the phone number).. none that I've tried seems to work.

To decode, I just loop the touch tone in Cool Edit, then compare it with the buttons I press on a phone.  It's quicker than it sounds.

You can also call up a phone company where the automated system asks you to enter your phone number.  Then you play the tones into your phone and the automated system responds with, "You entered 8 7 4 3 0 1 9 0 4 8 (or whatever).  Is this correct?"

"If you call 1-800-888-8888, and then hit 2, you can play DTMF tones into the mouthpiece and then have them read back to you. Who needs a DTMF decoder when you have this?"

It now tells me that I've made an invalid entry when I hit two.
