I was eventually fired in the winter time for calling a customer a dumb ass who slipped on ice who came in and called me a lazy nigger.

I can accept that teenagers haven't mastered counting out change yet, even if it is simple subtraction.  What amazes me is when cashiers in their 30's and 40's make incredibly dumb mistakes.  If you can't do simple math at that age then it's time to find a new job that doesn't require counting.

Oh that is nothing. You know what is worse?

They put the normal speaking people in the backs of the shops and the "I am still in ESL" people at the register.

Pisses me off.  >:(

The McDonald's cashier obviously thought she was giving you 7 dollars - a five and two ones.  Instead, she gave you 12, a ten and two ones.  She probably put a ten into the 5 slot earlier by accident.  So I'm going to go out on a limb and say she's not bad at counting.  She's just bad at paying attention.  You know, the cash register does the math for her...

I couldn't deal with operating a cash register all day. Not the actual machine, but dealing with customers face to face all day everyday would make me kill them all one day. Sometimes I look at the people working at the 7-11 and wonder how they manage to keep from going on suicide rampages. I mean really, the machine does pretty much everything for itself, you're just the eyes and ears and a hand that swipes the shit with the little laser gun to tell the computer what you want. Someday they'll cut those guys out and replace them with trained (possibly genetically modified) monkeys or robots or something like that.

I like jobs where you don't have to think about anything.  It gives you 8 hours a day to fill your mind with more important shit.  Just think about how many PLA issues wouldn't have been written if I weren't stuck in a 7-Eleven all night bored out of my mind.

This is the problem I have with American bills. It is too easy to give out $20s at the bar when you're too drunk to not realize it isn't a $5. Sure, you leave a nice tip for the waitress, but you end up getting pissed off later on.
