Renting Movies Under a Diffrent Name
« on: July 25, 2006, 08:31:27 PM »
When you social engeneer Blockbuster they give you the seemingly useless Blockbuster card number.  Well it turns out it isn't so usless after all:

First you call a up a blockbuster out of state claiming to be from a diffrent store.  Then just do the standard stuff discussed in episode 8.  Then once you get the card number, phone number, and address, go online and search for the blockbuster logo.  Print it out card sized.  Then on the back of the paper in Black Marker write the card number of your target, laminate everything.  Then go to your local Blockbuster and sign up for an account there.  Give them your "Out of State" blockbuster card.  If they question it, just say thats how they do it where you live.  They will run the card number and then ask you to confirm your information (you should memorize it before going in).  After you confirm everything you will have an account at that store under a diffrent name.  Because you had your old card with you they won't ask for ID.  If they do just say you don't have it and they will let it slide.  Once my camera gets fixed I'll post a picture of the card I used.

You can find a good logo at http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/e/e8/250px-Blockbuster.gif

One question...

Why the fuck would you go through all that trouble to rent a movie with some douchebag's name?

The blockbuster card number seems even more useless now that I read that.

If you are late or want to keep the movies it won't get tracked back to you.  And it really isn't much trouble, 25 minutes max to get everything and make the card.  I am problaly not the first person to think of this, I'm sure RBCP got to it a few years ago, he gets to everything :) leaving me with nothing to figure out.  DAMN YOU!

Couldn't you just print out the barcode and number on sticky paper and stick it over your existing barcode and number on your real Blockbuster card?  Seems like that would look less fake than laminating a card.  I don't think Blockbuster has ever given me a card that didn't look and feel like a real credit card.  But I doubt they would even notice a sticker barcode on a real card.  Just a thought...

Back in my wreckless youth, I used to apply for video rental cards using fake IDs.  I would make my own college ID cards, photocopied drivers license ("The cops have my real drivers license until I pay my ticket.") and fake utility bills to prove my residency.  A friend and I use to make a killing selling Super Nintendo and Sega games that we rented and never returned.

Off topic, but how'd you go about this/is it possible now?  I'm trying to pay less for college.

You could but the other way is less time consuming.  As of them thinking it is fake, as long as you tell them it is from a diffrent state they will belive it.

Or, you could save your time, and tell the fucker you forgot your card, and give them your 'home address and telephone number', like I do :)

When I do that, they ask for ID.  But I'm pretty shady looking.

What you should really do is just load up all the movies/video games you want into a large shopping bag and run out the door.  What's the teenage girl behind the counter gonna do?  Bonus points if you cut the phone lines beforehand so she can't call the cops.  Oh, and before you run out the door you should jump over the counter and take all the money from the register.  Much less work than making a fake card. And more exciting too!

If you're going to take the time to jump the counter, be sure to make out with the teenaged girl for a moment while giving a hearty thumbs-up to the security camera.  That way the cops will think you're a TOL PIMP and they won't mess with you.

The guy at the blockbuster closest to me is a retired LAPD officer (they are the ones always getting into scandals).  He has to be atleast 6'5, he is real broad, he can run the mile in about 7 minutes, he still has his permit to carrey a gun and he isn't afraid to accidently brush his coat back to reveal the 9mm tucked away in his holster.  I'll have to attempt that when it isn't his shift.

Actually, if you attempt it during his shift and manage to escape, you'll become a local legend and people will start buying you things making money irrelevant.

Or you could just pirate your movies and steal from a corporation instead of doing something that hurts other people. I mean, when you do this, some random person is going to get tons of late charges/missing movie charges, etc, and they're gonna be super-pissed about it.
Not only that, but it's a form of identity theft, and I'm gonna pull back the old forums with the wonderful question of "is it worth it?"

Nah, I'm kidding. Sorry, I forgot how bad of a habit I have of pulling up old threads.
