Interesting Find after calling a Spee-Dee Lube after hours
« on: July 06, 2009, 03:49:38 AM »
Hi all,

I need to have my cars oil changed and I called the local Spee-Dee Lube in Providence, RI. They were not open yet. I figured I would get an automated message informing me of the hours. Instead, I got a recording instructing me to enter my remote access code. This leaves me to belive that the answering system has not been set up. I first entered 1234 which is the default on many phones. That didn't work. So I called back and entered the store number and that didn't work either. I doubt that there is actually a set access code because the turn-around in staff at a spee-dee lube is on par with that of a McDonalds so the access code most likely will be something simple.

I'll be going there today to get my oil changed. Hopefully the phone is in a spot where I can read the brand and Model Number of the phone so I can get the docs on the phone.

BTW if anyone wants to try the number is (401) 453-4707 and its in the eastern time zone(GMT-5:00).  They open at 8:00am but someone may answer the phone after 7:30am

If anyone knows of any other common default access codes please post them. I used 1234 and 5555.

Yeah I was going to try that but I called back at around 7:45 and someone answered. But when I went to get my oil changed I used a little social engineering to get the make and model of the phone. It wasn't that hard. When I was paying for the oil change I just asked the service guy. "Hey, that looks like the same kind of phone I have in my office. What kind is it?" he said it was a "crappy AT&T 972". He said that its all staticy because its been dropped so many times. I looked at the manual online and I don't see anything about remote access.

I could try late tonight when they are closed and see if 0000 works

I called it and it went to the system. I tried 0000 and it gave me a loud beep, but no menu options.

yeah, I looked on the web for the default password that AT&T uses and it was 111111. I tried that without any luck. I also tried 000000.
