Blue Box & Red Box programs I made
« on: July 24, 2009, 02:11:17 PM »
I made this two simple programs because I knew they would be easy and simple.

Blue Box program:

Here is a recording of an old phone call. You can hear tones in the middle that are produced by the switching equipment. I compared them with my Blue Box tones, and found that the number dialed was [KP] 9449972 [ST]:

Here is an example of someone doing Blue Box dialing on the last phone system in the US that accepted these tones:

Here's a demo of the Blue Box program, and the sounds it makes:

Here's the Red Box program. This program simulates the tones produced by older payphones when money is put into them:

And here's a demo of it:

I know these will have limited or no use, but I still had fun making them.

I made them in...well...Game Maker 7  :-[

But of course they still work just as well as if I had coded them in another language.

Neat.  Does Game Maker let you export to Flash or anything useful?  Here's a couple that were sent to me about 10 years ago.

Nah, I can't export to flash with it. I prefer it to flash anyway, because you can hear the higher tones added by flash's sound engine, while game maker keeps it more pure. But I guess with flash, one could bring a PDA to a payphone and use it there, rather than like a netbook or something.
