You get 5k if you can find this guy

A reporter for wired magzine made himself dissappear. If you can find him using whatever hacking/phreaking/whatever means available to you, the magazine will pay you 5k. This is a challenge I am willing to entertain for a while.

The guy leaves clues on facebook, twitter and a few other places online.

That rule makes me want to contact his family just for spite.  This could be fun though.  Maybe our collective efforts could find this guy and we can split the winnings.

according to the article you have to

1) find him in person
2) take a photo of him
3) say the word "Fluke" to him
4) and send in the password that he responds to you with.

Looking at some of the early clues it looks like he is around the Cal area. and I'm not about to go all the way accross the country looking for him.

That's why it would be better if we work togeather. That way, if somebody finds out where he is, they could tell somebody who lives in Cali and that person can take the picture. No doubt keeping the prize money all to himself!


ALSO-- Are you saying that if you knew exactly where he was, you wouldn't go to California to get the 5k?

If it's northern California, I'd do it for $5,000.  San Francisco is just an 8 hour drive from me.

he should have just stayed with the band and off the grid. Going to NO was silly, as was following an eatery that was so specific to his celiac disease. Bad move.

He seemed to make a lot of small mistakes. He shouldn't have walked past the book signing at all, knowing that there were people surveying the streets all suspicious-like. And if he knew they were looking for a bald guy, why didn't he wear a wig?
