I can agree with this. Like trev mentioned about wi-fi scanning, it's not unusual to see wireless access points without computers OR a modem connected; old people will just buy a wireless router and plug it in. My parents did the same thing before I had to remind them that it had to be connected to something other than the electrical outlet to work. My grandma paid for long distance for a dial-in number for Internet for a while, even though the ISP had numbers in our area. They knew she would pay for it and continued doing it until I called.
Moral of the story: Old people are stubborn, but gullible. Actually, they're more just gullible.
