For those that care, here's the situation with me and Defcon:

I always wanted to go but because I was married to someone that thought PLA was retarded, I never went.  Now I'm free.  I was free last year but still didn't make it.  This year I AM DETERMINED TO GO.  I must go.  This is it!

I'm supposed to be flying to Arizona and driving up there with my man, but who knows if he will be able to.  If that doesn't happen, then is someone willing to drive with me from Texas?  Or maybe I'll get a greyhound bus ticket.  I don't know what to do!  If someone rides with me then we can share gas costs.  However, he/she might be a psycho.  I don't know what my backup plan is, but I am going to go!  I SWEAR!

I might be without a hotel room or badge though...I'm really poor...

I also told Rappy if I end up getting my own hotel room then he can perform a concert in my room for about 2-4 hours.

R0xy, 2600 groups usually do carpools so maybe you should see if there's a Dallas 2600 website and ask around on there.  Or actually go to a meeting and ask.  It's a lot less rapey than asking for a ride on Craigslist.

I owe r0xy 5 bucks from a few years ago. I'd said I had the Tengen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game. She was offering five dollars for NES games at the time on Cal's. So she sent me the cash, but when I started looking for my games, I couldn't find them at all.

So when I'm there, because I'm damn well determined to make it, I'll give you back your five dollars.

Thanks AP!  I forgot about that but it would be helpful in case I need to um, I guess buy some french fries or something

RBCP - I have not been able to figure out the dallas 2600 info.  Maybe I'm doing it wrong.  I found ONE group but they meet pretty far from me and when I went to their IRC chatroom, no one ever said anything for days so I gave up and quit.

I should probably look into that a little more so I can meet people IRL before august that might be going to DEFCON.

Did you find http://www.tx2600.org/, r0xy?  There's a contact email address on there.   Seems like 2600 websites always suck and don't get much activity.  I bet if you go to a couple meetings you'll find a ride since you're a girl and none of the members have ever talked to a girl before.

I tried hitting a couple of 2600 meetings while I was in Texas. Once with Sabrebutt and a few by myself. No one showed up on the meeting dates even after the websites displayed what looked to be a calender that automatically updated itself to the next meeting date.

I'm thinking the 2600 groups in San Antonio and Austin just don't do anything. THEY LIE.

Yes RBCP, that's exactly the group I was talking about!  They even have an IRC chatroom that nobody talks in.

Oh well...I have a few months to prepare.  I WILL GO!
