VX-7R Channel counter weird !!!!!!, need help
« on: May 25, 2011, 08:36:58 PM »
Hey

Straight to the point
I am having Yaesu VX-7R and I was testing the function Channel Counter but I found strange results.

I have another ham Quansheng tuned for channel 137.000Mhz and im PPT it at same time I turn on the channel counter in my VX-7R but it catch another frequency 138.125Mhz ????

I thought first something wrong with me but then I tuned VX-7R to the same frequency 137.000Mhz of Quansheng and I PPT it again it catch????

In simple words the Quansheng sending one frequency and the VX-7R receiving it in two different frequencies???

Below are my settings, tell me what is I am doing wrong!!!
Channel counter set to 5+/-
The RPT sets to SIPM
SQL Type set to OFF
SPLIT set to OFF

I think that you need to put a 6.5536 Mhz crystal from your toaster into your frequency counter this should solve your problem.

You need to take apart a Microwave and get the F-U-K Chip and put it in the U-69 chipslot in your VX-7R. That will fix that problem.

How strong is the off-frequncy signal? I just tested and I get the some noise on 138.125 when transmitting from my Quansheng on 137, but it is fairly weak and didn't throw off my VX-7R's channel counter.

A little off-frequency noise is normal when radios are right next to each other, especially when one of said radios is a cheap-ass Quansheng. Try keeping the radios at least ten feet apart, then see if you still hear anything on 138.125. I don't.

as you said i hear noise when they close to each other. can you make a test to any frequency and try to send from quansheng and try to capture it by vx-7r using channel counter. i will follow your way to do even the distance between each other mention it
