Dead Forum?!

Why the hell is this forum so dead? I'm gonna start directing people here!

Lots of forums are dying out in favor of things like Facebook and Twitter.  It makes sense.  If Facebook had a suitable replacement for actual forums, I'd probably just redirect everyone to there.

I like the anonymity of the forum! I don't give two flying fucks what Facebook says about having privacy settings, there's no real privacy on Facebook unless you use sockpuppets and there's things I do and say on the internet that is not the concern of my real life family, friends, and potential employers. Nobody that knows me in real life needs to know that I sometimes troll people over the internet or troll businesses and local governments from payphones.

You don't need privacy on Facebook.  You just need to set up a legit account for family and professional stuff, and then your fun account for PLA and other wacky things.

I'm not sure why, but there's still something I love about forums.. maybe its just because I've used them for so long

They are kinda more useful for continuing discussions though.. stuff just kinda gets lost in the mix on facebook

Im 86 and I would never consider using Facebook over great forums like this one and same goes for cell phones my CB will work just fine for now.

i had a myspace account for a short period of time at the dawn of social networking.. never got a facebook account, and have never been interested in one either, seems like all that people that have those accounts do is stay on there all day updating their statuses and such.. seems like a great site for stalkers, and law enforcement to obtain information about someone, but i really do not see much use in a site like that for actual purposes, i prefer sites and forums directed towards specific topics, where if i felt the need i could go by a different anonymous identity at each one of them... not like i am really that anonymous right now, any one of you could easily find my infoz...

Yeah, that's actually one of the top reasons I haven't created a real facebook account since I deleted mine about a year ago.. it just turns into a huge time sink and I waste too much time on it. I guess that's a positive side to the death of forums- I'm getting more done

But at least an employer isn't going to request your PLA login info to see what you're up to..

I've had many "sockpuppet" accounts on Facebook, the problem is when they find them they delete them. One of my sockpuppets has been hit by that "security checkpoint" where they want a mobile number to continue, and I'm thinking about getting one of those Tracphones just to unlock it.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with old friends I never see anymore (usually via PM) and to play games like Mafia Wars. Status updates? Fox News, MSNBC, and the government don't need to know every time I go to bathroom, that's what I think of status updates.

I too prefer forums over facebook or any other social media. Hell, I've never even been to Twitter or attempted to use it just due to the people I have sparse contact with annoy me to fuck and back about it. Something about going around with a guy and he updates his status every time he enters a new store in the mall. If nothing else I just want to break his overly expensive iphone and scream verbally disapproving things at him.

Anyway. Forums are better. Far easier to dig through pages of a forum to bring up old conversations, old topics, and various other items. That shit on face book can take hours and you just lose the gumption to continue digging through after a hot minute. But no one wants to make multiple accounts any more or go to specialised forums for anything any more. Which is a shame. Because this mixed grab bag of shit on facebook has got to go.

I had Twitter until it got suspended, and FB is gay. MySpace is even gayer, but thats just my 2 cents.

Is this the end? Nobody cares about social engineering or pranks anymore?
