Streaming software?
« on: May 03, 2012, 09:55:10 AM »
I have a friend that hosts a weekly radio show but is leaving the station and wants to setup his own stream.. I've never done any live streaming and I was just wondering what Cacti Radio uses, since it seems to work pretty well? Or any other suggestions

There are a lot of different Shoutcast stream hosts.  http://www.myshoutserver.com/ is the one I'm currently using.  It's $15/month for 125 slots of 64kbps.

For broadcasting, I use software called SAM.  It looks like it was designed in the mid-90's, but it works pretty good and does everything I need.  Carlito isn't a fan of SAM, so he uses a plugin for Winamp to broadcast.
