Anyone who's been here for more than a month knows that the same questions get asked a lot. Used to be red boxing, beige boxing, recently there have been many about "hacking the drive-thru" and getting free calls. Naturally, all of these threads are made by newbs. I mean, it's understandable that it works out that way. But it's sort of cluttersome and annoying to see the same questions come up every week. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
So this was my thought: When someone clicks on "create new thread," a 'suggestion page' should come up, referring people to the FAQ board (which doesn't exist yet) before they make a new thread. At the bottom of the suggestion page will be a link which brings you to the actual "create new thread" display. Maybe hide it a little.
Under the "General" mother category, there should be a subcategory called Frequently Asked Questions. This should have ONE of each of those FAQs, probably moved from pre-existing boards. Considering that first-timers (who start such threads as discussed above) are the most likely to read the suggestion page, as they don't know what it says yet, I figure that should do a good deal cutting down on repeat posts.
What do you guys think?
