War on Christmas!! Death from Above!!

So apparently a bunch of guys that get paid a lot are getting paid a lot to say that Christmas is under attack by the government, Jews, terrorists, particularly Jews, and the other people. They are defending their right to say "Merry Christmas" and sing christmas carols.

As an atheist living with a Christian family, I should be right on the front lines of this battle. Except I'm the one singing Christmas carols and looking for Christmas spirit, while my family is more or less apathetic about it. My cards will say "Merry Christmas." I call it a Christmas tree. I build the little nativity scene.

Who on Earth can deny the majority celebrating their holiday? Is anyone actually offended by this?

I'm atheist, but I have a strong Jewish heritage and I'm not offened at all if major companies say merry christmas, instead of happy holidays or whatever.  I think it's stupid that some people try to make people stop celebrating Christmas in a public fassion.  Having said that, I don't really think that there is a big "attack" on Christmas.  If there is and I just havn't heard about it then correct me.

I don't care. What pisses me off is the shitty commercials with jingles and songs and I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE! They start around Halloween, but are getting earlier every year. Soon they will start Christmas commercials in JULY. Its just an excuse to buy crap you don't need, with brainwashing images and tunes. "Ho ho ho! Jingle bells! Merry FUCKIN' CHRISTMAS MOTHA FUCKAS!" If they had more commercials like that, I'd be more into it I guess. Don't call me Scroodge but: Ah' Humbug!

i'm no christian, but i celebrate christmas. it was a pagan holiday to begin with before christianity took it over, so who cares. i'm not offended by people saying it to me, but it's silly how overboard everyone goes about how some stores choose not to say merry christmas. that's retarded. if a store wants to be inclusive fucking let them. christians are silly bastards.

Sorry about this comment but I'm starting to think that in the USA you guys worry about too many things.
Relax! Please do it.
If somebody says merry Christmas and you are totally against it, just remember that the other person is giving you the warmest of the hugs he/she can give.
And if it happens the other way around (the other person just says “wish you a nice day”), just think that he/she forgot the day or whatever, but I really think that there's no need to start any debate about the whole thing.
In fact I think that CNN worry about these stupid things to get off the attention about the real problems in your country and the rest of the world but I won't get political, at least not now.

P.S. Imagine saying "Happy Ramadan" ...it's something to say when you feel like intentionally missing the point.  You could even offend a muslim with this, it's like "Have a good starving!"

Or the lack of real programming at all during the Christmas season, for that matter. I pay $45 a month for cable, but yet I haven't watched hardly any TV in the past month or so (save for catching Rockford Files on WGN every morning - that show kicks some major ass).

"But nwbell", you ask, "why have you not been watching TV?" Simple - because every evening when I get home, AT LEAST HALF the channels are playing CORNY, RETARDED, OVERUSED-TO-HELL HOLIDAY PROGRAMMING. I don't want to watch the eighteenth repeat of some made-for-TV Christmas movie that sucked back in 1983 when it was new. I don't want to watch somebody's attempt to make new made-for-TV Christmas movies that you just KNOW are gonna suck simply by reading the title. I don't want to watch the Frosty the Snowman trilogy. I just want the regular, meat-and-potatoes programming that I know, like, and PAY OUT THE WAZOO for.

I really didn't think this was going to happen, but shit. My friend's little sister wasn't allowed to sing Christian christmas carols at the "holiday concert." She was allowed to sing some Jewish song.
