I do happen to listen to a few of the bands you've listed during your rant (Atreyu, Underoath *Pre-They're Only Chasing Safety, Haste the Day), but regardless, I generally listen to music that I can relate to the lyrics. And all the MTV and other mainstream bullshit really does seem to ruin bands that might have been somewhat respectable at one point or another. I do wear band shirts, but only of bands that I actually listen to or used to listen to. I do wear chucks, but only because they're cheap as fuck and have nothing flashy and fancy going on. And I do have my ears stretched to 1/2" because it just kind of got addicting. But judging by your stereotypical rant you'd probably wrongfully categorize me into being one of the scene/emo/hxc homos as well... which is not really the case at all.
I'm not scene by any means, I'm not "hxc" by any means... I'm really just one who couldn't give a shit what others think and one that doesn't look to fads to fit in. I actually tend to just lose interest in whatever I previously had interest in once it does get raped by the scene homos.
Not sure where I'm going with this... but whatever.

Really, theres always going to be the "in" thing and everybody is going to hop on the bandwagon eventually and ruin things for everybody else that has been into whatever is, way before it was considered the "in" thing. The only thing you can do is just wait for the bandwagon to change over and destroy something else instead.
None of that probably had any kind of meaning, and was probably not worth your time to read it if you did (or mine to type it), but meh... oh well, boredom does that.

Heres a similar rant some might like, against the "angst parade" as well. http://www.zipperfish.com/mediabase/popup.php?Active=Rants&&ID=572

That guy wasn't an elitist. He just was obsessed with shitty music. I like how tool has an incredible amount of merchandising.

i think he was just pissed that something he held so dear was liked by someone he thought of as an ignorant newb. that speaks volums of elitism to me. and as to tool being shitty...well i guess you're entitled to your opinion. at the time, the whole 'learn to swim' thing was very attractive. and yeah, there is tons of merchandising. that is what happens to a band when it sells its soul to hot topic.

Here how people that are really into their music think:

Example A: OMG, THAT GUY DOESN'T LISTEN TO WHAT I LISTEN TO.  THE STUFF HE LISTENS TO IS SO SHITTY!@#!@#$

Example B: OMG, THAT GUY LISTENS TO THE SAME THING AS ME BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT IT.  I'VE BEEN LISTENING FOR WAY LONGER THAN HIM, THEREFORE I'M NOT A POSER LIKE HIM!@#$&^@@^

Wow, I am suprised you actually care about scene, eather that or your drunk. You sound drunk. You should eat some cookies.

We all like diffrent music, but I really have to kill you for saying Nirvana. Not because I do not like there music, but the main singer killed his dumb ass. That is like, more Emo than Emo, witch is why I laugh at people who are like "Fuck Emo...but I like Nirvana!"

Scene has always existed and has alwaysed sucked. Back "in the day", sceen was listening to 80's metal and hating black people. Before that, it was wearing a two peice suit and punching your wife.

What evenr has dominated the media image has always sucked.

My advice, stick to your own shit even if its bad and just don't give a shit.

Oh, I think Hendrix music is ok, but I love the shirts. Its the only "band" member I have seen. Poor nigger blew himself out on drugs. Dumb fuck.  :D

"Scene" is what emo kids call themselves to differentiate themselves from other emo kids who besides that are exactly the same. It has nothing to do with what is popular or whatever, just another label for emo.

Right on que, PLA now has its very own emo/scene/hxc kid! http://www.phonelosers.org/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=941

I didn't even have to see the picture... "Die Romantic" instantly threw the ever so popular teenie-bopper band Aiden into my head. Had to listen to them live at a show because my ex and her friend practically orgasm at the sight of the lead singer with his mother's make-up on and whatnot. I think anything Aiden related sure as hell fits right in on this post.

In a way I do feel kind of like a hypocrite, seeing how I'd probably get angry if somebody was bashing one of my favorite bands (still really wouldn't care much though), and if you like them then whatever thats your thing... but I still feel the need to be a prick just for the fact that I can be one.
Let the flaming begin... or continue... either one works.

You know im 22 and yeah i'd say i have kinda emo/scene style but alot of it is cuz im young at heart plus i work to jobs (both in which im supervior) and i still find time to dress how i want.so my point is why are a bunch of adults online gripping about music and how people dress I CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, EVER. about you but i know i got of high school quite sometime ago and by the way Aiden is a FUCKING awsome band they play hell'ya good riffs(its a music section played on guritar)plus i also listen and play alot of harcore/grindcore/death metal bands

And im not a fucking kid think you!!!

why can't we just all get along????????

and one more thing i dont see how some dress's or what music they listen to matters  on who they are as a person you the kinda like the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover"

I get the feeling(it's a thing found in your gut) that I'm not going to like you very much.

I will admit that (although I think Aiden has a very Fake sound and look to them- as do most of the highly teenie-bopper praised bands) Aiden does put on a good show in regards to getting their fans pumped and whatnot.

Oh, and as the Adults comment... You can leave me out of that category, and I am still in High School (last year thank science). Also, judging by your grammar, you could probably have used a few more years of high school.

And yeah I recognize that the clothing one wears and the music they listen to does not completely matter. I go to a school that is populated with a great amount of diversity in all forms, so I know from it that just because somebody might dress gangster looking as hell and listen to rap (Just for example) they might be pretty nice once you get to know them. How a lot of people view others really just goes straight to stereotypical thoughts, but thats never going to change anytime soon.

Just try not to take too much said on the site to heart... everybody needs to unleash some flaming once in awhile, and if you happen to be the innocent victim at that time, then so be it.

Oh, and you look a shit load younger in your avatar picture. Knew you were 22 from the profile and Myspace,   but the picture could easily throw people off that haven't seen either of those.

I have to agree with what you said. Martin Luther King said "judged... by the content of their character." I go to a school where there are a lot of kids who are "gangster" but some of them are actually really nice, hilarious kids once you get to know them. But being Goth or emo as it is now called is somewhat different. The people who I know who act "gangster" actually come from "gangster" places. And trust me they are not fun places. Emo/goth is usually whining Americans who have lived a life of privilege and think it's cool to be sad. They have nothing to be unhappy about; they are what Holden Caulfield would declare "phonies". This is what I dispise about them and I think that's what this guy meant when he started this thread.
