I have to agree with what you said. Martin Luther King said "judged... by the content of their character." I go to a school where there are a lot of kids who are "gangster" but some of them are actually really nice, hilarious kids once you get to know them. But being Goth or emo as it is now called is somewhat different. The people who I know who act "gangster" actually come from "gangster" places. And trust me they are not fun places. Emo/goth is usually whining Americans who have lived a life of privilege and think it's cool to be sad. They have nothing to be unhappy about; they are what Holden Caulfield would declare "phonies". This is what I dispise about them and I think that's what this guy meant when he started this thread.

Exactly... they act as if being miserable for no reason other then to gain attention or whatever the fuck reason they do it for, is cool.
And I understand everybody has those points where something might happen and they feel like complete shit and depressed for a period of time, but the difference between that and emo 24/7 kids is the people who are actually going through shit don't need put it on display and whine about it for everybody's attention.
Look at the majority of them and you'll see they come from a stable family environment with probably everything they could ever ask for material wise. I myself come from a kind of fucked up family, and I can still manage to walk around with a smile on my face... so what is the deal with acting like your life is a total pile of crap when it is most likely in reality the complete opposite.
The emo kids I've known and seen seem to have a problem with extremely low self esteem for whatever reason, so that probably contributes a lot to the real emo kids (not the ones that just act like they're depressed and whatnot).
I can't even make sense of it... which is probably how I can so easily ramble on about the subject and still go nowhere with it, but I'll stop there for now.

Just so you know, Die Romantic, that wasn't aimed towards you.

You know im 22 and yeah i'd say i have kinda emo/scene style but alot of it is cuz im young at heart plus i work to jobs (both in which im supervior) and i still find time to dress how i want.so my point is why are a bunch of adults online gripping about music and how people dress I CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, EVER. about you but i know i got of high school quite sometime ago and by the way Aiden is a FUCKING awsome band they play hell'ya good riffs(its a music section played on guritar)plus i also listen and play alot of harcore/grindcore/death metal bands

And im not a fucking kid think you!!!

why can't we just all get along????????

and one more thing i dont see how some dress's or what music they listen to matters  on who they are as a person you the kinda like the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover"

WTF!!!!  If i were your boss i would fire you so fast.  Can you speak?  Can you spell?  Go grab one and play with it a while and then post here again.

You play guitar P4nyk? Just curious. Out of all the instruments I've played none can compare with guitar.

I really want to play bouzouki, but they are expensive. I have two guitars and a bass, and a guitar definitely has more range but obviously can't get the sounds that a bass can.

There is no fucking scene anymore.

Everything has been done over and over again.
Goth shitheads for instance are doing the same 'doom and gloom' crap that Cure, Dead Can Dance, Clan of Xymox, Peter Murphy, Christian Death, Coil, Skinny Puppy fans were doing in the 80's, and all of the wanna-be industrial faggots were doing in the ABSOLUTELY SCENE-LESS 1990's while they were listening to Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, and those punk bitches, Slipknot.
The two big changes I see now is that the emo-scene boys are a bunch of pussies.  I mean real pure bred no-nonsense sissy la-la's.  I work with one of those candyasses, and this dude writes his poetry, smokes other people's cigarettes, and talks about how his parents are real assholes.  He's 25 years old.  What a pussy.
The second thing is that the whole scene wardrobe and accoutrements were paid for by mommy at Hot Topic, or "Goth Mart".  What a crock of shit.  I remember when you had to drive to Hollywood (Vinyl Fetish or Bleeker Bob's), or out to Pasadena (Moby Disc's) to get your hands on a Ministry poster, or the new Nitzer Ebb album before it was released in the states.  You had to go to see The Cult on stage to get The Cult's t-shirt.  Now parents take Depressed Donny to the mall to do some school shopping at Hot Topic.  What a joke.
I guess the only real positive I can find in it is:  at least these white kids are acting like white kids.  At least they're not trying to emulate that pussy Eminem.  It seems like the fewer black kids there are at a high school, the more that the white kids try to make up for it by acting black themselves.  It's easy to be Mister Bad Ass G Unit Thug Fo' Life when you're living with your parents in Brown Oaks, Oregon.

Yeah Guitar is pretty an amazing instrument. I call the Harpsichord of today.
I would like to play Harpsichord simply because it is such a weird instrument.

Actually I think we had this in the eighties too but we called them mods or something like that. I could be wrong. That happens occasionally/

Springfield is such a shitty city. Even Worcester is superior in every way.

Well I actually live in Northampton which is a very odd city. We have a few parts which are pretty depressing, but than there are parts with really rich stupid people so it balances it self out.

New York is superior to New Jersey in every single way. What exit off the turnpike are you, Jersey?
