If you take a look at this post (http://consumerist.com/5062689/casio-voids-warranty-claims-theres-a-fingerprint-inside-new-camera) on Consumerist.com, you'll see this:
Casio Voids Warranty, Claims There's A Fingerprint Inside New Camera. Sam can't get his 6-month-old Casio camera repaired under warranty because Casio's U.S. repair center says the camera has been opened. Sam writes that he's even sent in copies of his fingerprints to compare to the inside of the camera, but so far Casio won't budge.
This is where I feel like it's okay to "scam" the company. Sam should buy a brand new camera just like his old one, then return the old one in the new box. If he tells the store it's faulty, they'll send it back to the company and they'll deal with it. I read Consumerist every day and there's always stories like this, where either a company like Casio or a store refuses to take back a faulty item. It's especially bad when the guy actually has a warranty on the item.
When my Playstation 2 quit working after a year, I swapped K-Mart for a brand new one. Why should I have to pay to have it repaired when I paid nearly $200 for it? Same thing with my Xbox 360 - it's starting to give us classic Xbox 360 issues. I'm not going to blow $300 for a new one. I'm going to have it replaced with a brand new one for free. I know if I tried to have Microsoft repair it I would go through hell and probably end up paying them money. They get enough money from me with my Xbox Live subscription. I don't expect consumer electronics to last forever, but they shouldn't die after just a year or two. Especially the ones that you pay hundreds of dollars for.

I agree completely. I also feel it's ok to scam companies when you KNOW they're just being flat-out greedy. I don't have a problem with somebody making a profit, or even getting rich, but when they start taking advantage of people left and right *ahem* Oil Companies *ahem* that's when I think it's ok to scam. Just my opinion.
-
scamming is never ok
-
Except when it's a guy who died a thousand years ago eh nova?
-
I fully advocate stealing from rich nameless companies. It's the right thing to do!

you mean faceless? or actual secret nameless companies that nobody knows even exist?

It is definitely ok to scam on ebay. Just sell broken stuff 'as is' and say it looks like it is in good cosmetic condition but you don't have the capability to test it.
-
scamming individual people like that kinda sucks.

There's not much you can do to oil companies. Maybe drive off without paying for your gas, but that just hurts the owner of the station, not the oil companies.
And yeah, scamming individuals is mean. But I think mr_doc was kidding, linear. You're so naive!

I have bought a broken GPS off ebay from someone and all it needed was a charger.....

Nice Sarcasm, It just needed that part.

I try to avoid fucking individuals over but I don't care about any company.

I try to avoid certain franchise stores. For instance, where I live there are 3 McDonald's within walking distance to each other. One of them is really nice to me, so I do my best to avoid scamming that one. The others I could care less about. It really doesn't make a difference in the long run, but whatever.

I hate the giant chains. I would consider hiding a time-release box of cockroaches in a Mcdonalds bathroom airvent purely for the lulz and wouldn't ever feel bad.
-
See: my last day with my current employer
Customer: Do you have those new Jordans?
Me: I'm sorry, we're all out of Jordans; how about a nice pair of GET A FUCKING JOB!!!?
I've been planning it for 3 years, so we all know it's gonna happen.

Yeah those secret Bilderberg Illuminati companies

What about the phone company? How could you not talking about scamming them on these forums? :nonsense: :nonsense:
MIB
-
I always wonder if MIB knows his name appears at the top left of his post or not.
-
On the Gibson it's on the right. When I'm drunk it's on the left, top, center & middle. And it makes the room spin counterclockwise.
MIB
-
You spin me right round
-
Like a record, baby; right round, round round.
I like when MIB tags his posts w/ his name. It reminds me of P4nyk, and how he would affirm how he was standing behind whatever he was posting by tagging his name at the end. It also reminds me of when you read forum or news archives, and the contributors' names are listed just above or below the content, instead of off in a separate section.

I don't think it's right to release cockroaches at McDonalds. Those places are usually owned by local businessmen, not by the McDonald's corporation. So when you do something like that, you could be costing your neighbor money, not some faceless corporation. Go release your cockroaches at Wal-Mart instead.
It's not right to steal from the phone company. I've never pretended that I'm not a law breaker when it's comes to stealing phone calls, just because "the long distance lines are just sitting there, not being used." You can reason that they screw us all the time with insane rates so they deserve it and you're probably right, but you are still stealing.
But I still believe that I'm doing nothing morally wrong by giving myself a free extended warranty on expensive consumer electronics. When companies sell $300 gaming machines, they shouldn't overheat or quit reading discs after just a year. That's what I'm trying to say in this thread. Not that we should screw over every big company just because we can. Just that we should get our money's worth when we buy things from them instead of getting completely screwed.
