Tricking an employee out of a code?  Yeah.  People don't change.

Which machine is "the machine"? Some models do, some don't.

If you'll listen to the call, you'll notice that first murd0c & I found out what their answering machine model number was.  Then we looked it up on Google and found the instruction manual for it, which told us that the code was written on the battery door.

But all machines are different.  Most probably don't have the code written on the machine.  You'd have to trick a manager or employee out of the code.  If the machine they're using even has remote access.  Or maybe the machine uses a default access code that will be written in the manual that you find on Google.  Every situation will be different.  The theater we tricked got a new answering machine after we stole their code and it didn't appear to have any remote access.

there are 'algorythms' for answering machines too, that is if you don't mind sitting there for 10 minutes on the phone inputting the entire thing. I don't

I don't know how well those algorithms would work these days.  Back in the 80's and 90's, answering machines weren't that smart.  They would just   wait to hear the right tones.  They had no idea how many tones you entered and would completely ignore any wrong tones.  Some had a time limit and some didn't.  But very few had the ability to tell you that you hit an incorrect digit.

These days most answering machines and voicemails recognize every number you punch in.  If it's a 4 digit code and you start off with 1 wrong digit, you have to start over.  The algorithms would be useless on this kind of system.
