Anonymous Calls
« on: March 05, 2007, 07:11:07 PM »
I couldn't find a search button or else I would've clicked it. Can someone please guide me on how to make a truly anonymous call. I assume it is going to work similar to how a proxy server works?

There are Caller ID spoofers out there.  Example, if you wanted to call someone anonymously, you could make the caller ID show:

White House, The
202-456-1414

OR

You could use the * code for Caller ID blocker

So you bypassed Caller ID. Whoopie. Too bad you're still passing ANI on. You're not actually making a truly anonymous call that way.

I've never done it myself so I may be talking from my ass as usual, but I read that caller ID spoofers only change the ID after the connection is established so it momentarily displays your real number before switching it.

Well,

I kinda agree and Kinda disagree with all of you.. in fact, I think there is a way to be completely unknown (possibly)

I am using several asterisk servers, and to termninate a call I am using a VOIP provider, what i have discovered is that when you change the outbound caller ID in the selected trunk to whatever you want the ANI will also change accordinally, although logically the VOIP provider have possibly a PRI line connected to a BELL circuit to recieve my packets digitally which will then are converted into analog signal using a FXO card to connect to POTS.

So yeah at this point My head head is somewhere stuck in the pots linbo. ASTERISK-TRUNk-PRI-VOIP-{FXO-POTS}, seriously we should look into this trying some other tests to see if in fact the telephone company systems receive and change completely the ANI

If there is an internet connection, then I can fairly say that you will be getting a phone call from me.

I just try to get my real ANI and yep is the same as the one i set up in my trunk..so...i wonder what kinda of things we can do now since we are tecnically bypassing and changing our ANI as we pleased.

And I think 2 be completly unknown, you must have a prepaid cc to open an account with a voip termination provider, then have asterisk set up in your laptop and using your neirborg wifi to connect your asterisk to the voip provider and use your softphone to make truly annonymous calls, umm I should try this to see what happend, meanwhile i will keep playing with asterisk while in the bridge.

You could use a payphone or calling card. Spoofcard might work, I've never checked the ANI when using it.
