Tension, Sudden Bursts of Anger, and an urge to strangulate

The things I have described in the title of this question are things that happen to me regularly, and sometimes without provocation.  What can I do to relieve the tension, control the undesired effects of sudden bursts of blind rage, and not wind up in the slammer for ripping someones head off and shitting down their throat?

I would suggest doing something that "satisfies your rage" like , buy a punching bag.
Or smoking recreational pharmaceuticals. That helps me  ;D

Ahhh yes....Zig Zag filled with the diggity dank.  While it would be relaxing, it would also give me the munchies, and cause me to put more weight on my already 215 pound body.  I should go hang up my old Everlast bag and go a few rounds with it, or go to the butcher and be like Rocky Balboa and beat the crap out of a pig

channel your anger or something (???) maybe that'll help. when I get really pissed off, I run into the middle of a field and scream until I think my vocal chords are bleeding :)

Getting laid certainly relieves tension!  I suggest lots and lots of sex.

I also suggest taking a mature approach to dealing with your emotions.  Just take it all logically... Let's break it down:

People cannot control emotions.  It's really impossible.  If it were possible, people would choose to be happy all the time.  No one would be sad and miserable.  You get the picture.

What people CAN control are their actions.  So all those people you're thinking of now that can supposedly control their emotions... they still FEEL, they are just masters at controlling their actions.  All that "Sorry I ripped your face open and fucked your dog, I was angry," is an immature excuse.  And it is possible you're immature, but at a certain point you will be mature enough to think to yourself, "Is it worth it?"

Honestly... 99/100 it's not worth making a big deal out of things.  If you're upset, leave the room.  Think before you speak.  Cool down for a second and LET IT GO.  Also, when you think things through, you're better able to store the information and learn how NOT to get into those situations in the future... or how to handle them better.  And if you think you need to so you don't look like a pussy, maybe you just need new friends.

So I used to date this guy that had HORRIBLE road rage.  Once he moved to NYC you can only imagine how bad it got.  So some RANDOM asshole on the road would cut him off or something and my ex would get SO MAD that he would TAILGATE the guy and HONK HONK HONK and yell and drive like an insane man.  Seriously... when you think about it what did he accomplish?  I ended up refusing to get into a car with him.  My dad didn't feel safe when I visited him.  The asshole who cut him off to begin with likely only felt more justified in being an asshole.  And he could have KILLED US.  As a matter of fact, the week we broke up he got into a horrible car wreck and his truck was totalled.  Yeah, maybe he felt good for 2 seconds, but the anger is not worth it.  On the other hand, if he was able to let things go, me, my dad and his truck ("Hank" he called it) would have thought much better of him. 

On the other hand, if you're one of those guys that get so angry you black out, maybe you need some help. ;)  I still recommend getting laid though.

Sex sounds like a good idea!  My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself..  I don't go into rage blackouts, but i do get uptight and wound tight quite often.  I guess I just need to relax more.  Get laid, get a massage, something.

I too have angry feelings while driving. I dream of strangling half the people I encounter on the road. What I've found to really relieve the stress and anger while driving is to use these:

I'll do one hand while driving with the other and then switch at the next light or whatever. It's light exercise at the lower weights but the endorphins still kick in to calm you down. Plus after a 30 minute drive your forearms will be jacked. Those medium tension pro-spirit grips from walmart won't cut it for long, but I recommend you get some and remove the foamy covers to put on the real grips.

And if it doesn't work out, you'll at least be able to more efficiently strangle with your popeye-esque forearms and crushing grip.
