Movie Theatre Fun
« on: July 09, 2007, 04:31:22 PM »
Usually when I go to the movie theatre, I try to do something entertaining. Here is a list of things I do:
1. If there is an annoying couple near, and they are ruining your movie experience, call the front desk and tell them you don't feel comfortable in the theatre and that there are young children in the theatre. I promise you, when I do this there are at least 4 employees that start walking up and down the aisles. Ive also done this to a friend; I told him that I was going to the bathroom, but in reality I called the front desk and he got kicked out.
2. If your movie is over, why dont you go ahead and play tag, through the whole cinema. After you go into a couple movies and run across a few times you can expect to be kicked out.
3. If you don't know this already, its really easy to get into movies for free and R movies if your underage. All You have to do is walk by the ticket stub person while he/she is busy. Its really easy, especially if you keep on walking nonchalant. If anyone asks you for your ticket stub inside then say you lost it, as long as you know what movie and time it is they do not care.
4. I have also found that if you buy your ticket, then go into the movie, come back out, get a refund, and then go to the same ticket-stubber and dig around in your pockets to the side he/she will usually just let you go in because he/she already saw your ticket and probably remembers you.
5. If your theater has a diner or anything similar that has food to go so you can bring it into a movie, then you can usually just get a food box (the kind they give you at restaurant  if you didn't eat all your food) and put whatever you want in it to bring into a movie. As long as you don't try to hide the box no one will notice.
6. **Note** This is the only one I haven't tried due to sanitary reasons **Note** Usually theaters have a cup size that has free refills. If you wanted a free drink you could look in the trashcans outside for a cup and try to get a free refill. At my theatre the diner has white Styrofoam cups that have unlimited free refills. I usually just shell out the two bucks (its cheaper than the theatre drinks) but you can find the cups in the trash. Or of course you could just ask for water, and they give you a free cup. Then come back later and say you want a refill.

Thats it, please reply with your ideas. And yes, I have done everyone of these (except getting cups out of the trash), so if your theater is different and you cant do it there, please don't call me a liar.

As a person who worked in a movie theater, I love kicking the shit out of little kids who do shit like this.

Here's what you do - buy 1 ticket and go in the theater.  Come back out and ask the ticket guy if he can remember you because you have to go out and make sure you turned your headlights off.  Go out, hand your stub to your friend, then come back in.  Your friend gets in for free.  Repeat as many times as you need to.

Get a cup out of the trash and get your free refill.  Then punch a tiny hole in the bottom of it so it drips.  Take it back to the counter and tell them your cup has a hole in it.  This way you don't have to drink from a cup that you got out of the trash.  Do the same with a popcorn but rip the seam of the container and demand a new container.  The concession people are going to think you have REALLY bad luck.

Usually when I go to the movie theatre

I just looked at your IP address and you're not from Canada.  Why are you spelling it like that???

Here's some tips for fun:

1. Moths!  I've always wanted to do this.  Gather as many live moths into a container as you can, sneak them in, then let them go in the middle of the movie.  They'll all head for the brightest light, which will be the window that the projector is behind.  Giant moth silhouettes on the screen!

2. Toothpicks.  Get there as early as you can and stick toothpicks in as many seats as you can.  Stick them in pretty far so they can't be seen as easily and so they don't cause your victims too much damage.  You'll explode in laughter each time a person sits down and screams.  Stick them in the front of the seats too, so the backs of their legs get poked.

3. Bring BBs or popcorn kernels and throw them at people during the movie.  They're small enough that people can't easily see them flying through the air.  And instead of doing the throwing motion with your arm, you can just flick them into the air at people.

4. Laser pointers.  Just a quick dot on the screen occasionally will annoy everyone in the theater all at once.  You'll probably get caught though.

That's all I can think of.  #2 and #3 is something I did often as a teen.  I was a jerk.  Also, when I worked in a theater once, I opened the projection booth window and threw some popcorn kernels at the people sitting near the front.  The only other people were sitting in the back.  This caused a lot of yelling between the two groups.

Better yet find a move candy box or bag and fill it with bb's. Less conspicuous.

Gummy Bears!!! if you get them to stick just right on the projector it changes the whole color of the screen and makes it very blurry. You could even dab a little glue to aid the process.

If you walk with confidence there's really nothing you can't bring in with you. I've brought beer in the theater a few times, I thought they would stop me for that but they never did.

The worst I have done is to sneak in hard lemonade in a pop bottle.

The kids and I always bring candy with us, then buy popcorn and soda.  In the winter, when I can wear a heavy jacket, I usually bring my own 20 ounce drinks but still buy the popcorn.

Another way that works in the UK:

Buy a ticket and go through to watch a movie. After the movie is finished, walk out of your theatre room and go across to another one!

not an original one, but still fun to do is get a soda straw and some napkins and hit people with spit balls. When the movie has a loud scene nobody will hear you!

My friends and I have come up with something similar. This summer, as we all know, cicadas are everywhere. And they're really easy to collect. So, we got afew jars and collected a whole buncha cicadas, and then we emptied them out in a barnes and noble and then left. We didn't have too many and we think they were cleaned up right after we left, becasue we went in fifteen minuites later, and we couldn't find a single one. But I think it has potential.
I sort of feel guilty posting this. I always view threads like this as really stupid. Oh well. Enjoy.

That's actually pretty good. If they hadn't gotten them it would have been pretty entertaining when you came back in.
