I love calling walgreens and asking for narcotics. Why do I always need them 'stat' though?

Actually it comes from "statutory" or "statutory rape". In the old days doctors would just do whatever they wanted with female patients as payment. Some of them started referring to taking this kind of payment from younger girls as getting "stat."
