Safeway PA extensions?
« on: June 26, 2006, 05:58:50 PM »
Does anyone know these? I ask the cashiers ALL the time when I go there (My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself., I don't think they know what I want to do) and they always tell me it's a button on their phone. I looked on a phone and I think there was a page and intercom button on it. Intercom should be overhead paging, but if I tell them to press transfer, then intercom, then hang up, it sounds suspicious.

I want to tell them to press transfer, then the intercom extension, then hang up. Since the employees probably don't even know the extension they'd probably transfer me.

Having worked at Safeway aeons ago, I think I recall the paging extension as 999. However, it has been nearly five years since I worked there.

How do you transfer? I told Starbucks (in Safeway) to transfer to 999 and he didn't know how. I told him that most likely he can press transfer, then 999, then hang up. He put me on hold for a minute, then came back, dialed 999, then hung up. Didn't work.

Can Starbucks access overhead paging?

I have no clue. Again, I am in Canada, so they possibly have a different system. There is a transfer button from what I recall, and from what my brain is letting me remember, they're based on some system from Lucent. Every phone has its own extension, and as far as I know, you can broadcast on the PA for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Wow, I hope they don't use the same system in the US. 5 minutes is too short for me. I'd rather do a 2-hour broadcast similar to the one RBCP did.

Their system might disable allowing access.  I tried this at walmart before.  I called from in the store and tried getting like 5 people to transfer me to the paging system, and they tried but it just wouldn't work.  I told them extension 96 (which worked from on the phone) and I also just straight up said that my paging button wasn't working and I needed them to transfer me.
