Just got a Motorola PR400

As the title says, I just acquired a free Motorola PR400.
Not too sure what this thing can do other then the whole two-way radio thing.
Anybody have any input what this can be used for or done to it to get some fun out of it? It is the 16channel version.

And I kinda forgot to take it off before leaving somewhere, and didn't realize until I was on my way home. Nobody else noticed it still clipped to me either, so in that case I figured I'd hold onto it for a while.


The only thing is, I don't know what I could use it for other then screwing with other stores of the same company since I'm fairly sure we all use the same radios and channel 1.

Still can't figure out why when I change to another channel other then 1, it will just make some tone unless I change it back to 1.


Oh, and the one pictured in that link is not the exact model of it I have. The one I have is the bottom line  model of it without any kind of display. Is what mine looks like.

But congratulations to you, now all you have to do is find the Motorola programming software and build or acquire yourself a cable.

Motorola requires a software license agreement for all Motorola Two-Way radio software. This signed agreement must be renewed every two years. This is a contract with you and Motorola, Inc.

In addition to the software license agreement you must purchase the software license for every model you require. Software generally runs between $200.00 to $400.00, this includes two years of updates.

The real nice thing about those Motorolas is the frequency range that they are capable of. I use 2 old Motorola bricks. One I use for the 2 meter/440 ham bands, and the other I use for messing with the cab companies.

YOu can find used ones for about 30 bucks too.
