Any good after market antennas for this radio?

I also heard you can put an amp between the base of the radio and the antenna. Is this true? Also is their a chance of frying the radio?

Yes but by no means are they unique to this radio.  The Diamond RHF40 or RH77CA comes to mind...

You can put an amp on any transmitter.  I wouldn't keep the same antenna (the rubber duck) though, obviously. 
You can always fry a radio.  Depends what you do to it.  I wouldn't stick a paper clip across the antenna terminal and transmit for an hour.  You could put it in a pan and put it on the stove, too.

yea, if you use an amp for a frequency other than the one you're tuned to.

Yes you risk frying the amp, the radio or both if you don't use an amp and antenna appropriate for the frequency you transmit on.

My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself. .. now seriously:

That's dual band with good gain & vertical polarization yet rather compact.  Pop that on a mast with a TV rotor, paired with the amp and radio you'll have a decent VHF/UHF base setup.  Plus, the neighbours will just think it's a TV antenna.  Feel free to build an antenna though.  Not enough people build stuff anymore.....

JT65, 12 elements and 100w on 70cm can do EME no prob w/the big gun regulars.  Amazing what sound card DSP can do.
