HOPE 2008/PLA Panel Redux Planning Thread

Hey there forum members! With 2008 finally here, the wait is nearly over for the next Hackers on Planet Earth conference. And since its the only conference that's less than 30 miles away from me, I'm going to be there. I'm hoping the majority of you will at least try to come out. Because RTF and I are planning a 15th anniversary PLA panel. Or PLA 2: Electric Boogaloo. 

Anyhow, I'd figure I'd sponge off you guys for ideas of things to talk about. Because at the last panel, we just mainly bullshitted up on stage for an hour. I'd like to do more interactive multimedia presentations, I'm thinking pyrotechnics, music, lightshow and glowsticks, a pie pod even! A fucking pie pod! But really, the main reason I'm rehasing this panel is because I want to get into HOPE for free.

So I implore you, more creative forum members, give me ideas for the panel.

The 2004 panel had Elephant & Bird, What's Your Bid, a few movie theater calls, a few auto parts calls, Happy Birthday, Q&A, and I-Ball arguing about red boxing techniques.  I created a 10 minute version of the old panel and put it on YouTube.  It hasn't finished processing yet, but it will be here when it's done.

So what's new since 2004?  PLA Radio.  Maybe I could edit some short "best of" clips for you to play.  There's RTF's Guily Deter song and my Linear song.  Maybe you could kind of lead in with one of those, before the show begins.  Then end with one of them going too.  I've got quite a bit of unreleased stuff I could send you that might be useful.

How about some PLA history?  I can't remember if the 2004 panel had much of that.  Too bad there's no new PLA videos worth playing.  I'll go make one today and it'll be awesome!

I'll definitely send out a few PLA shirts, DVDs, CDs, stickers, and whatever else I can think of.

If you guys actually do this, I am totally going.  I was so pissed at Cal when he didn't tell me about the first panel til literally the day of.

History lesson would be good.  Wait that isn't creative...

I think PLA Radio CDs would be good.  Maybe a timeline.  Definitely mention the Jon Benet Ramsey thing

Teh panel ideas are as follows:

1> GSM/GPS Cellular Hi Jacking
2> The Lowes Remote Access via VoIP Phone
3> Teh Call Centre Monitor Numbers For Telco/Data/Cellular

These are teh ideas, these demands will be met. And two Free Tickets Please...

I've got a pretty full summer already.  I might end up going at the last minute, but right now I don't think it's likely.  Don't worry, I'm really boring and dorky in person so you'd just be disappointed anyway.

apparently, it's july 18-20, at the hotel pennsylvania, in new york city.

this makes me sad, as it's a week and a half before my bar exam and therefore i *probably* can't go.  sigh.
