War Dialing and red boxing with ipod

Does War Dialing still work?  I mean do systems still accept incoming modem transmissions? 
I've been looking for a war dialer but I can't find one.  I've followed some links on this site but the one I downloaded wouldn't work.  I think I don't have the right OS or something. 

And further more:
Red Boxing.  I downloaded the quarter, nickel, dime, and coin return tones from this website:
www.phreaksandgeeks.com
and imported them onto my ipod. 

Would it be possible to play the quarter tone a few times and then play the coin return tone and make a few dollars??  Because it didn't work for me.     I don't know why.

And yes, I am new to the "phreaking world."  So don't yell at me.

I can answer this part because I understand gravity.  When a person's call is completed, all of the money in the coin hopper falls to the bottom of the pay phone into the coin box.  Once it's there you're not getting it back.  Pay phones can't return money that you don't put in yourself.

Well that flippin stinks.  I was reading about it online, I guess the only way to get money from the pay phone is to cut certain wires and then put them back together later on, hoping that people used the pay phone, but considering that people barely use pay phones anymore I'd say my chances of making a killin would be NONE.

You could try stuffing the return slot with tissue, that might get you a couple bucks.Maybe you could open up the part where the coins are kept with a T key, but then there will be another lock I think.

There are quite a few War Dialers that still work on Windows, but it pisses me off because they ask for the NPA and the NPX(I think) and only ask you which digits to search the last 4(from like 0000-9999)
