Seriously, if you want to exchange scan/war dial, its a much better and rewarding experience to do it by hand. You'll often times find more interesting shit on your own. Extenders, outdials, really weird random recorded annoucements or just odd PBXes. Whatever. You're not going to get any better information from anyone else on these forums. Period.

It's not the same. Its like using a radio with tubes instead of solid state. Yes, the solid state gear is more efficent, but theres something to be said for the "feel" of the old radio.

Anyway, I thought phone companies could detect the use of a wardialer. I remember there being something about that in an old PLA magazine, but it may have been elsewhere. Someone else should help me out on this one.

They can't necessarily detect it, but it'll look a little suspicious to the company if you're calling every phone number in an exchange rapidly one after another. if you were able to dial out that fast manually, it would arouse the same suspicion.
