okay, so this is more like phones in the blogosphere than phones in the news. 

but, there's a blog i read, for the world's largest museum of the world's smallest versions of the world's largest things in lucas, kansas.  she posted some pictures of a volkswagen beetle modified to look like a telephone...and some of them show the phone car parked by a payphone in lucas, which is one of the coolest-looking payphones i've ever seen in person.
