WeakNet Linux Assistant v2.0 BETA
« on: January 05, 2009, 02:32:09 PM »
Here are some updates, I have been working with Tully on this one:

Quote
A BETA release of WNLA version 2.0 will be released on Feb 5th 2009 @ 9pm EST. So far the only details I'll give are:

Web Hacking Portal Version 3.0
very stylish, the php scripts I wrote perform seamless redirects now.

1337tool Version 2.0
has a 4 by 4 grid now with a few new applications on it.

Uses Enlightenment (E17) instead of Gnome as the Window Manager
a much more advanced MW.

MailSpoof LIVE version 1.0
Spoof emails right from the 1337tool dashboard with theis new GUI application.

Forensics applications
much more applications for forensics and a new dedicated menu.

from http://weaknetlabs.com/index.html

######################################################

BEFORE this BETA release, I want input from anyone who has used version 1.0, please.
I installed the serialmonkey ralink drivers as requested by MattGSX,
I installed the "latest and greatest" madwifi-ng tools and drivers as requested by Tully,
I installed Adobe flash into FireFox 3.0
I installed more Forensics tools as requested by 4nalysis,

Any more requests PLEASE let me know before the BETA release date..

----
PLEASE keep in mind:
1 I want to keep the ISO at about 1GB, but 1.1 or 1.2 GB is alright i guess..  It's already fatty from all of the servers it hosts.
2 It's a LIVE DVD, that is for obtaining more security/network/command line skill sets.
3 IT is Ubuntu 8.04LTS - meaning if you need help installing some weird piece of hardware, you can go here:
   http://ubuntuforums.org/ and do a search for some PROPER NOUNS pertaining to your sitchyatshun.
4 Ubuntu comes with a LOT of drivers, and I have added a lot to it for WiFu NICs
5 IF you choose to install it, you can always just install a different window manager with aptitude, Gnome, KDE4, etc..

----

I already wrote a MASSIVE howto Here:

Wiki:
https://klikit.pbwiki.com/Remastersys+-+E17+Customization+Guide
or PDF:
http://weaknetlabs.com/texts/PDF/e17_customizing.pdf

for the remastersys group pertaining to the e17 enlightenment Window Manager, in case anyone is concerned about "user friendly" I could most likely write Perl code that creates desktop icons and menu icons and shit like that. I have precompiled things e17-ish: meaning, all eye-candy, gadgets and widgets, all installed and ready.

#################################
ADDITIONS:

airpwn (what a pain in the arse)
driftnet (wow this app is actually cool!)
gnome-terminal
WebHacking Portal v3.0 now has an "exploits" tab.
liborcon
lorcon
libpcre++0
libpcre++-dev
libnet1
libnet1-dev
madwifi-ng r3878 v0.9.4!
Net::DNS Perl module
DNSwalk
pyDNS
DNSBruteForce

trev makes it worth waking up and checking out the Operating Systems section of the forum. I look forward to the next release as I've used the first one countless times on a stick to save my ass and do work with. +10 31337 points.

You should include Skype, skype4py and Sabrebutt's wardialing script. 'Cause wardialing FUCKING RULES!

Also, any chance of a distro intended for install in the future? Meaning, not just a liveCD but a full on environment meant to be used as a primary operating system?
I HATE the bridge.

trev -

I never properly thanked you for including the serialmonkey drivers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Really, though, I was just overjoyed that you included the tools to build from source and to create modules. If you can strip any non-essential drivers (like the serialmonkey drivers) that might not be a bad idea, as long as you include the ability to create a driver for the module from source.

sidux (miniature debian sid) has a very nice integrated .ko creation and implementation tool because of the same issue - how do you make it more or less seamless to get a wireless card running without the bloat from including every driver? Let the user select the driver (which, in theory, requires them to get online), and then build and install the module from source and initiate it at boot. At least, I think it's sidux. I haven't played with any Linux distros but musix and Puppy for a few months (plus Ubuntu at work)

Tully and I have started a support forum for WNLA http://weaknetlabs.com/forums/  and you can ask questions there too, or refer anyone who asks you questions that you don want to deal with! :)

Commercial for version 2.0: http://weaknetlabs.com/linux/v2/

You probably have to click the refresh button once you go to the above link if the page is just white.  It's something wrong with the swf player camtasia produced.  But tell me what you think!!!

You can shoulder surf and watch WNLA2 as i explain some things about it here:

++++++++++ do it!

Yeah, on second thought, the dependencies are reaching 50MB, and well, there isn't a dependency list anyways (either on the site, in README, INSTALL, or FAQ, or anywhere)  who does that??

ANYWAYS the WeakNet Linux Version 2.0 BETA Disk will be out tomorrow at 9PM EST.  Also, you may have seen videos and shit i have been making showing off new things in the ISO, well, it's dramatically different now.  TONS of new stuff, new graphics and compiled extras, etc... Added more menus will better tools and Even a ton of FireFox 3 security themed extensions.  So! TOMORROW 9PM EST.  BE THERE!!@!! :D :D :D
