Apparently, this new service from the makers of SpoofCard allows you to reveal blocked caller ID info by secretly sending your incoming calls through their 800 number and grabbing the ANI.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this is illegal, but still a great idea. And it's free? Wow.

I've been reading lately that they're wanting to pass laws to make caller ID spoofing illegal.  Which I guess is a good thing, even if it'll take away a lot of fun things.  I don't see how forwarding your calls to a toll-free number could be illegal though.

I love how Spoofcard continuously makes a complete mockery of the caller ID system.

Hey our igloos have fonez! It just takes forever to have them installed as they use dog sleds
as transportation for the service techs.

Why won't you go away?

They finally added Verizon Wireless support, so I got to try it out.

Basically, they give you instructions to set up conditional call forwarding to their toll-free number. When you get an incoming call from a private caller, it first rings your phone normally, with the number hidden. When you reject the call, it sends it to TrapCall who gets the ANI and then calls you again, this time showing the number in Caller ID.

It works quite well. Of course, it is still useless when the ANI information is missing or incorrect, such as with Skype.

It doesn't work very well on vzw phone. When you call *86 you just get their 800 number which rings and rings and never picks up, so to check your voicemail you have to turn off call forwarding, check your voicemail, and turn it back on. they claim to be working on the problem

My voicemail works fine, except when I call *86 (or my own number), I get my voicemail as if I were an outside caller. However, all I have to do is hit # and it asks for my PIN and lets me in. So now I just have to press one more button when I check my messages.

Really? mine doesn't work at all... oh well, they claim to be "working on the problem"

I've been using it for about a month now and it works like clockwork. Now, at the very least, the hooligans from my school can't dial *67  and harass me without repercussions. None of them are skilled or knowledgeable enough to use caller id spoofing, calling cards, relays, or voip. They seriously believe they're safe with standard caller id blocking. I can't wait to receive a blocked call- I am literally rolling around on the floor all crazy-like as I laugh..
