Seriously, this has got to end. Can I get three? Not just me, but those of us who are long standing, active members and aren't generally hated. I know it's generally said that people don't look at karma but I do. When I see a new user with ten posts make a bad post I immediately look at his karma to gauge if the other posts he made were probably bad or not. I know it's the cool thing to "ignore the karma system" but maybe it shouldn't be.

I don't know, the potential for abuse seems high. If a new user really sucks there's usually been enough other users around to give the guy negative karma points within a short time span.

Agreed. And it would defeat the purpose... And it would make the forums more of a circlejerk. And it won't discourage the persistent and/or oblivious. And...
