Didn't RTF make a screen saver?
« on: December 19, 2010, 11:16:24 AM »
Yeah. I think he did. Where is it at now? If Cal's were still around, it'd be floating some where in there! But it's not. We lost Cal due to a tuna sandwich late last year.

I think he made a screen saver for Jenn's Electric Dreams site.  Is that the one you mean?

Good memory, ApprenticePhreak!  I made an OMG HAX screensaver for Windows in (according to the file date) February 2004.  It's a slideshow of a bunch of the OMG or NOT pics from Cal's and some others I threw in, with an appropriate .MOD file from somewhere thrown in.  I put it together in some cranky screen-saver-authoring software that hated me.

I no longer have the source files or readme or anything that I can find, I only dug this up because (much to my surprise) I still happen to have it installed on this computer, but I've chucked it back onto the Internet just for you. Here it is.

Bad memory, RBCP!  I didn't make Jenn's one.

I'm old and confused!  So does the screen saver work on Windows 7?

Does anyone here still use screen savers?  I don't think I've used one on purpose in at least 10 years now.  I prefer to just black out the screen and then auto shut it off to save power.  I'm such a tree hugger.  Do LCDs even need saving from burn in?

From what I understand LCDs do not need screen savers any more. At least this is what has been presented to me time and time again with virtually no argument against it. However the system I use constantly tends to be on almost all the time. It'll boot in less than a minute to all my nifty games and dirty images, but I'm not super American unless I use electricity twenty-four-seven.

And thank you, RTF! While it was a simple back ground and I remember in a haze you complaining about the struggle to make it, it's much appreciated that you still have it around.

Thanks to the fact that I actually put pertinent info into the saver's config screen (good job, past me!) I found the music again for anyone who wants to jam to it without having to save their screen: ohmygod.s3m

No idea if the saver works on Windows 7 or Vista or other less-outdated crap than it was made for; anyone want to give it a shot and report back?

It works on both my XP64 Pro box and my Vista box. One would assume it's the greatest screen saver ever. What with the nifty music. The best part is I was coming back today to ask a simple favor of finding out the name of the track used or if anyone had it. You've appeased, RTF. Gingerbread won't knock you out any more!

..., with an appropriate .MOD file from somewhere...

Thank you, RTF, for reminding me of .MOD files! I tend to forget about all the cool things from when we were Chris Ellerbeck's age.
