*Matt apologizes for being a moody drunken asshole in the middle of the afternoon. That'll show him.
Seriously, though, I stopped listening to punk rock for this very reason. Everyone calls ever band everyone else listens to a poser band. I bet if we all started talking about how much Underground Network rocked, our new Punx0r would start bashing Anti-Flag and call them a bunch of gay communists.
Any talent that band had was gone by A New Kind of Army, once they realized what a command they had over all their listeners. Same thing with NOFX.
The only punk rock I'll listen to is something that's either not politically motivated or out to "make a point" because they often get shitty, idealistic, and become mouthpieces for some movement. I'm surprised Anti-Flag isn't in Loose Change, because it seems most of the Truth Movement calls themselves Justin Sane's best friend (but that's a whole new topic).
Yes, I listen to "poser-pop punk", but that's because I could give a shit how many scene points I have. People who concern themselves with who is a poser and who's leet in punk rock ruin the scene and are what caused a wave of shitty music in the first place.
Also, I know it's something you probably don't care about, but I really would recommend taking the extra, like, 2 minutes to scan over a post and make sure it looks the way you want before posting. Intentional misspellings are sometimes okay, but in most cases it can be annoying if it's not done for a specific purpose (imitating l33t sp34k, poking fun, etc, etc). The way you present yourself on the Internet is a reflection of who you are, and if you want to come off as sloppy and apathetic, then go for it. It's just hard to take someone like that seriously, and it's just as easy to skip over everything you say and assume it's something counter-productive. Nice, well laid-out posts are a joy to read, especially since you can pick out individual parts to comment on them.
