Shorting/resetting kiosks + Shorting store electricity
« on: April 19, 2013, 09:37:04 AM »
not the most technical shit but ive been fucking w/ kiosks a lot lately w/ ikat & other various bullshit (just to amuse myself mostly) & found that some (not all) kiosks that have usb drives available or hidden (eg. older photo center kiosks) can sometimes be shut down or reset discretely by shorting the usb drive w/ a bent conductive metal pin, a usb cord that has the wires shorted (strip the right wires, twist them together, then house in an empty usb flash drive), or even using a usb cord w/ stripped wires connected to one (or more) 9volt batteries- the latter sometimes takes a second from my experience but can make that usb drive inoperable or cause other interesting shit.

Got this idea because in certain stores ive came in w/ a stripped AC outlet cord (like cut from a lamp or old surge protector or whatever) & would touch the + & - wires to short the electricity. sometimes the electricity doesnt go out in the whole store or some of the emergency/backup lights will come on, but it generally provides enough confusion, darkness, & time to rack whatever youre aiming to procure

(safety first, or atleast second)
