WarGames II...*vomits*
« on: November 10, 2006, 04:51:33 PM »
Matt Lanter (”Heroes”) will star in the sequel to the 1983 film starring Matthew Broderick “War Games 2 — The Dead Code,” Stuart Gillard directs from a script by Randall M. Badat. Lanter plays computer hacker Will Farmer begins to play an online terrorist-attack simulation game against government super-computer Ripley, he’s in way over his head - because Ripley is actually a complex piece of spyware, designed to ferret out potential terrorists and scoop them up. Only Ripley is a paranoid nutjob who’s hell-bent on placing pretty much everyone on Earth in a 3×3 cell, lest they turn unpredictably hostile. Production starts November 20 in Montreal.

It takes WOPR-sized balls to attempt a sequel to the 1983 classic WarGames. But Matt Lanter, of TV's Heroes, is the new Matthew Broderick in WarGames 2: The Dead Code, slated to start shooting this month in Montreal.

According to Production Weekly, Lanter plays hacker Will Farmer, who takes on a government super computer named Ripley in an online terrorist attack simulation game.

Is it a game, or is it real?

It's a game. But unbeknownst to Farmer, Ripley is actually a complex piece of spyware designed to root out potential terrorists. It's gone off its rocker and become "hell-bent on placing pretty much everyone on Earth in a 3×3 cell, lest they turn unpredictably hostile." (That's what you get when you implant an AI with John Ashcroft's engrams.)

Fingered as a baddie by the paranoid malware, Farmer is hunted by Homeland Security agents. Can he prove his innocence and stop Ripley in time?

At least they didn't call it WarGames 2.0.

Also in pre-production, Breakfast Club II: Last Meal. Judd Nelson revises his role as social outsider John Bender, now middle-aged and on death row for the switchblade slaying of his abusive father. When a prison riot unites him with his former high-school detention-hall friends, all serving time in the same facility for crimes ranging from felony assault to perjury, they discover they aren't so different from one another after all, and form a violent prison gang that takes over half the crystal meth distribution in Denver.

Ah yes... the Breakfast Club II... I can't wait for their wacky highjinks in a state penitentiary.

Seriously, both these movies are the worst idea since Greedo shooting first.

I'm disappointed, Neep.

Han Solo: I'll bet you have.

Ack.. sorry frog.  I was in the wrong mindset to get the reference.  I'm dissappointed, too.  I should have got that.

I guess BTTF references and New Jersey Chronicles references have demeaned my ability for trilogy references.  I'll try harder.

Well I think the Breakfast Club idea should be pitched to the studios.  I bet they could even get all the original actors.  Not like any of them are doing much these days.

RBCP is right, but you need to say Shermer Illinois, not Denver. ;)
