Well by using the payphone or a calling card there still a chance of being traced, because you had to purchase the calling card at a " physical store" unless you buy them online, although by doing this your IP is captured {unless you spoof your IP which is very simple} and you may also need a cc to purchase a calling card so there is still a link not counting that you still have to use a telephone to use this calling card, then if you use a payphone chances are somebody have seen you, or the lense of a survellaince camera have captured you. In regards to the spoofcard same thing as a calling card "a link to a physical connection is needed". and we this 2 methods you cant change the cname unless you use the other thing but will not help you with the ANI.

I think the VOIP thing is the closest to "remain unknown"

If there is an internet connection, then I can fairly say that you will be getting a phone call from me.

I would think buying them at a physical store would be better.

I'm telling you...PLA Radio #12.  Billing offices offer completely free long distance and unlimited diverting.  You could divert yourself through a dozen different billing offices if you wanted to.

unless you spoof your IP which is very simple

Spoofing your IP for scanning with metrics is one thing, but activly spoofing you IP for TCP communications and HTTP requests in such a scenario as you are illustrating is a total different story and not considerd "simple".

A proxy would be more to your liking.

Actually you are wrong in reference to ip spoofing...for one

Proxy is nothing, and whoever get a proxy to be unknown...they dont know nothing about ip spoofing, second by having a proxy many websites will be restricted to your access...not counting that the people or company who manage the proxy still get your real IP.

IP Spoofing..to do this the simple way.. you must first start by cloning the MAC address of your NIC card, the rest I will not say since there is a bunch of crackers here who I bet will try to spoof their IP address...all i can say is that is really simple to do this and many ways..also since we are talking about VOIP the protocols used to conduct this type of communications are different as well the ports used to do this...I will suggest you to do a little more research..unless you want to use port 80 to do voip???(it is possible but it will take a lot to do this).unlike IP spoofing my friend this can be done very easily and many way and if you want to be more anonymous you can clone your outgoing packets...

My 3 cents

I was under the impression that the scenario was ordering calling cards off of a web site and not for VoIP traffic.... you may want to watch your comma splices.

The third or fourth time Op diverting has been said. Not that you're paying attention voiphead.

Here's a video example Jordan. http://www.phonelosers.org/tv/prankcalls/ At about 4:09. "Remember when you're op diverting always eat Reese's!"

Try to be a little more condescending. I don't think everyone is getting it through your posts. Not to mention that I doubt there are any "crackers" on this site. Most of us have better things to do.

That's what I thought he was getting at too. Apparently the point was more to be as condescending as possible so we would think he was 1337.

Are you full of shit or something? IP spoofing is nowhere near as easy as you put it, and unless you have an incompetent ISP, you're not going to pull it off. If you're on a private network, IP spoofing is fairly easy unless the network is heavily managed, but I can assure you that unless you're paying for a nice pipe into whatever facility, what you're saying is complete bullshit.

Ummm... No matter what port you use for voip your Ip will remain the same. If you want to use another IP completely anonymously the best way would be to use somebody else's wifi. Spoof a DIFFERENT MAC than your nic card. Then use a relay op to make your call. Don't know how to use your voip on somebody else's lan but it could probably be done. Maybe if the router's password is default you can forward the voip port to an internal ip and set your voip up on that.

If you buy a calling card in a store just pay cash and don't use it for a month. Payphone, wipe off your fingerprints ??? How would you get caught doing either is beyond me. There's no fucking satellite coverage over the payphones. This isn't 24. You're not pulling off the crime of the century.

Or just divert over and over

It doesn't matter if you change your MAC address or not.

Your MAC address is attached to your modem, and by a simple log search, if the abuse department wants to know who you are, they can search for that IP, then the MAC address belonging to that computer, and then the MAC address of the bridge that you use--in this case a cable modem or ADSL modem. In order to get away with it, you're better off either using someone else's connection or proxy-ing around. You could attempt to change the MAC of your bridge, but then you'll likely lose connection or set off some alarms.

Let's say you get busted. If your NIC's MAC address matches the 'abusing' MAC address that would be pretty damning evidence I would think.

Edit: To clarify, we're assuming you're using somebody ELSE's wireless network. There would be no point to spoofing it on your own. I guess that's what you were saying

I just try to get my real ANI and yep is the same as the one i set up in my trunk..so...i wonder what kinda of things we can do now since we are tecnically bypassing and changing our ANI as we pleased.

What are you using to find out your ANI?

Yeah I think you guys are going a bit overboard here (you forgot to mention http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Terminal_Equipment or a similar scrambler).

Unless you're calling in bomb threats or some crazy thing like that I wouldn't worry about it. I was getting paranoid myself making prank calls from a payphone then I realized that the average person won't even get around to finding out that that is a payphone number before giving up.

Even if they DID realize what that number was, and then gave it to the cops, I'd bet the cops would just BS them for a while then throw out the case.

I'd bet that OP diverting (or even simple voIP system that gives your number as being in a different state, or in my case a different country) is far more than sufficient for standard PLA-shenanigans.

no more comments about IP spoofing...all I can say is before you comment on IP spoofing, do yourself a favor research a little bit more. anyways...going back to the anonymous calls subject...I found out that if you change the number on your IAX2 trunk or SIP trunk to a toll free number the real originating phone number from the provider will in fact show up on the caller ID as well it will be pickup by ANI, but using a working landline will bypass ANI as well will change the caller ID accordinally.

The above comment was provided to you free of charge!
