Road Trip Suggestions?
« on: June 28, 2007, 11:48:13 PM »
So me and a couple of female friends are going to be roadtripping for the next 10 days.  We're heading to TN for Dollywood and Graceland... but we have a long drive there and back and a few days to kill.  Any suggestions of neat things to do/see between NYC and Memphis?  We plan on hitting Nashville and Knoxville at some point.  Probably a brief detour in Philly and DC... we're open to suggestions though.

Go to Battle Creek, Michigan to visit Cereal City!  EvilCal and I went there a few years ago and it sure was an experience.

Shoot over to Virginia while in DC (it's a cross-town drive to get into VA) and visit Jamestown, the first settlement in Virginia.  Lots of history there.

Come to Wisconsin so you can visit:

Ripon - the birthplace of the Republican party
Milwaukee - Home of Jeffery Dahmer and Miller beer
Oshkosh - Home of Oshkosh B'Gosh, Country USA, Life! Promotions and Speakers, and the Experimental Aviation Association
Green Bay - Home of the GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!! WHOOO!!!! YEAH~!!!!

I'm sure there's other stuff, but most of it is pretty lame. Actually, most of that is pretty lame, too. Don't come to WI?

I went to Wisconsin once years ago to see Pearl Jam headline Summerfest.  I kind of liked Milwaukee.  Unfortunately we're not going to be anywhere near there.  We're in Nashville right now and heading to Chattanooga tomorrow.  Graceland on Friday.

Well, I live right at Dollywood, pretty much, so if you want, drop by the Staples in Sevierville and you'll find me. =P

pigeon forge, TN. 10 miles of arcades, amusement park rides, bars, and t-shirt shops. It's like the Appalachian version of Atlantic City.

You should drive up in the hills and get moonshine from an old man with no teeth that's married to his cousin.
I HATE the bridge.

We actually went to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge (Dollywood, wooo!) and ended up taking a helicopter ride in Sevierville (too bad I missed you random phoneloser guy!).  That whole area is so much fun.  Like a mini-Vegas mixed in with some International Drive in Orlando.

Right now we're in Memphis.  Tomorrow is Mud Island, Graceland, Sun Studios, the Peabody Hotel and whatever else we can fit in.

I think that's a new thing of theirs, not just limited to Graceland.  I saw some peanut butter & banana cream Reeses at Walgreens a couple days ago.  It sure sounds like something Elvis would like though!
