Holy shit is it hard to record with a DS.
So I lost one of my 3.5 mm adapters, which means I had to plug my DS directly into a monitor and then mic the speaker. Sorry for the not so fantastic sound that resulted.
http://www.myspace.com/misformopedYou're not my mom - Recorded using theChuckster's tr909 demo, all tracked live (that's why there's so little variation; it's very hard to alter a drum pattern live) and M-06 for guitar. The DS was mic'ed using a Sony 3.5 mm digital recording mic, and my vocals were done using the mic off of a "voip ready" headset that I got at school.
Fishtank Duet - Meant to be an aliatoric duet between vibraphone and French Horn. I don't have either instrument, so I used Electroplankton and a garden hose with one end pushed through a trash can. Sorry for the ratty sound on the "horn"; there is nearly 20 feet of hose to blow through, and by the time I got the audio situation squared away, my lips were nearly shot from all the previous takes I did. Listen for some lip trills and multiphonics. They don't come out nearly as well as on a real instrument, but they're still there. All mic'ed using that voip headset.
The "monitor" on both is actually just one of those home speaker sets for an mp3 player/cd player. I like to take it with me for when I can't hook up to a PA, or if I'm just practicing and need to hear what I'm playing.
Let me know what you think.
