Crazy woman buries husband with cell phone, still paying the bill after 3 years

Marian Seltzer buried her late husband with his cellphone fully charged. Now, three years later, she still pays his Verizon bill monthly and leaves him frequent voicemails. He, uh, doesn't get them.

Marian even went so far as to etch his cell number onto his gravestone, allowing those passing to ring him up and leave a message.

Isn't that nuts?  Still paying his monthly bill after more than 3 years now with no sign of stopping?  I called the number on the tombstone (917-685-5711) and got his voicemail.  It was full, probably because of the Gizmodo coverage.

If I were totally evil, I would hack the voicemail and replace the outgoing message with...I dunno.  Something evil.

You could replace it with some "white noise" type talking and say it's him and to leave a message.  If it makes her happy, is it evil?

Plus, you'd be happy for fucking with someone stupid.  Win, win?

I just read the NYT article and it says this:

Seltzer has never checked the voice messages because she doesn't have the PIN. And besides, she says, "I wouldn't feel right doing it. It's a private thing."

So now that the voice mailbox is full, is her great idea completely fucked?  She's going to have to invade her dead husband's privacy and get the pin reset.  Hopefully Verizon Wireless doesn't insist on giving her the new pin by texting it to the phone's handset like they usually do.
